Hello Day!

Naa koy mga contact with some of my relatives, pero they too have a very unclear idea of the family tree.  One of my relatives who would have been as old as my mother had she lived to this day, was even surprised to learn that my Lola Prasya was the youngest of 15 kids!  Waaaaa!

O sigi ... salamat sa pagtabang!

Nag-ingon man bitaw to ahong mga classmates nga naay Reunion lagi.  Pero ambot lang kon maka timing ko ug uli ... hehehe!  Hibawo na ka nga gakalisod man mi diri sa UK karon.  Haskan kaubos ang British Pound, unja lisod pa jud mangitag kapanginabuhian diri karon.

Pero thanks kaajo ... di ba naay Catungawan High School karon, just like Guinacot High School?

Thanks once again!

Hi once again!

Very interesting!

My Uncle Chuan, as I have in my previous posts, is still alive.  But very unfortunately, he refused to answer any questions I had about the family.  My Lolo Singa came with Uncle Chuan to the Philippines when Uncle Chuan was just 6 years old.

Uncle Chuan although very bright was not even able to talk the CPA board exams because at that time he still held a Chinese passport.  It was not until he was in his late fifties when he finally got naturalized. Maybe that explains his reticence to pass any form of info!

My granddad, besides making a living as a "Bookkeeper", was a "letter-writer" for some Chinese (when sending letters back to their families in China) and was also into sari-sari store and copra-buying operations.

Do you know if we coud check some details about my Lolo via the Statistics Office, or perhaps the Census?

Thanks, once again!

Hi Dong Lorenz!

My father's complete name is Teodoro Amora Tan.  My complete maiden name is Annabelle Caga Tan.  I am now Annabelle Tan Kay, as I married an Englishman.

In fact, my aunt had an immigration problem when she took her C.P.A. exams kay gi question ang ijang citizenship.  In the 1935 Constitution kasi, a minor's citizenship automatically follows that of the father, thus, theoritically, my father was Chinese citizen and had to process his "citizenship" to opt to become Filipino once he came of age.

Nangijawat ko nga maka establish ug complete links on my entire family structure.  Having started with already 3 sides ... completohon naho, ha?

This time, it is Dionisio Amora's children I am trying to trace.  My greatgrandfather Dionisio Amora had 2 legitimate children namely, Teofista Jayoma Amora-Tan and Simfroso Jayoma Tan.

But he had between 19-21 other children (yes Nineteen to Twenty One)!  Some of my Lola's half brothers' and sisters' children I knew and even grew up with ... but I am also interested to know what happened sa uban?

One of my greatgrandfather Isyong's children were Nang Ponsa (mama nila ni Vicky and Rafols Kiamko), Nang Iriming (both of then duol sa Tabajan-Trinidad bridge), ug  Lolo Bertong Amoguis.  Ang alam ko greatgrandfather Isyong has a son with "Jandayan" as surname, who was based in Anda.

Daghan jung salamat!  And once again, more power to TB!  Bisan usahay ra ko kalili diri ... always nice to come back!!!

Nasugdan na man ning pag trace sa mga "roots" mao nga aho na laman hutdon ni ... I wonder what has happened to my maternal grandfather's family.  My grandfather was the late Dionisio Bernalte Caga, a retired policeman.  He married Eufrasia Murillo.  Anak nila was my late mother, Dimpna Murillo Caga - Tan, a Catungawan schoolteacher before her death in 1970.  I know that there were 4 of them siblings (sa ahong Lolo), pero I cannot even recall what their names were.

In Catungawan, I had a second degree cousin, Nilda and Teria Olaivar.  Any info about their whereabouts, or that of their other siblings would be greatly appreciated.  I had tried searching for them on "Facebook" but it has been difficult searching them using their "unmarried" names ...

Thanks!  More power to TB!

I am interested to trace my roots!  Besides my father's Chinese side, I would want to know more about my Lola Prasya's familyn (my mother's mother) .  She was Eufrasia Murillo. From what I know, she was the youngest of 15 children.  Naabotan pa naho ang ahong Lola, pero unfortunately, when she was still alive wala pa sa ahong boot nga maghimo ug "Family Tree".

I know that she had an elder sister we call Lola Epang, whose only son was Terting Murillo Olaer.  This side of the family I still have contact with.  Kahibawo nga si Nang Berbing Murillo Gamutan was my grandmother's niece.  Sa kadako sa ilang family, I hope I can somehow meet some of the them?

Thanks and more power!

Hi Dong Lorenz!

My paternal grandfather was Tan Guan Sing (aka Tan Tek Liong) ... ambot ngano these names ... I dont have specific info about how he landed diri sa Bohol.  He was based in Guindulman, Bohol.  His Filipino name was Eufrosino (Singa) Tan.  He married my paternal grandmother Teofista Jayoma Amora.

I am very unfortunate not have any details as specific as yours.  But from what little I have heard my Lolo maintained books of accounts for some of the Chinese community in Bohol, as well as served as a "letter writer" for some of the Chinese in Bohol who were not literate.  Ang alam ko, he was from Amoy, China.

He used to also trade copra until his death in 1954?

My father has a half brother, Tan Ho Chuan (Filipino name:  Juan Tan) but he is now on his early stage of second childhood.  So it is malabo to get details from him ...

I wished though, that I had the opportunity of knowing my Chinese granddad (and his Chinese family), as even here in the UK I am more often mistaken, and described by both the British and some Filipinos as "Chinese"!!!

Last year, I even went to the extent of accepting an assignment to teach English in China, in my desire to learn Mandarin ... my first step to my quest of locating my Chinese grandfather's "links"!

Again from what little I know ... he has some distant relatives in Jagna, Cebu and possibly Ormoc.  Maybe when I retire I will spend some of my remaining days looking for these "relatives" ...

Kung mo comment tas gimmick sa uban (in a negatively and forcefully judgmental way), mora ra ba pod tag way gimik aning kinabuhia, hehehe... only God knows -- and you!!! Hahahaha!   ;D ;D

So what is wrong with marrying a foreigner?  Not necessarily for money ... naay uban gusto makaliwat, di ba?

Naay uban, mas gusto ang tigulang because mas caring, thoughtful, generous and responsible!  Naay uban mas gusto ang tigulang kay mas "experienced".  Ngayon, on top of all these traits, kon "rich" si Fafa ... anong masama doon?  hu?

Hahahaha ... but inuulit ko ... there is only a 5 years' gap between me and my hubby ... and definitely (to my malas TINGALI?), my hubby is super pobre, and is definitely NOT perfect!  hahahaha!  But he has some of the above traits though ... hehehe!

But in life ... swertihan, di ba?  Kon naay mangasawa nga "better off", why not (rich, guapo, educated, kind, generous, hard-working and "ho**y"?  Kaysa sa drug addict or tambay sa kanto lang mapunta?

Besides ... if you feel anti-social with me for declaring that "I am maldita KON UNAHAN", please lang avoid sticking such impression on the BOHOLANA as a whole!  I am a different Boholana ... dili ko bootan sama sa kasagaran nga Boholana ...

And besides ... why zero in on just the "Boholana"?  Hu?

Has a Boholana hurt you before?  Just curious ... why particularly "The Boholana"? Women from Russia, Thailand, China and anywhere else are "saintly"?  Ngano morag Boholana man jud ka allergic?  What about women from other parts of the Philippines?  Kay Boholana lang gyod imong giinitan?  The Western women, di ba sila coin-operated?  Hu?

I apologize to the other Boholanas nga nadawit sa comment ni Sir David, just because na antipatikahan sija sa akong declaration about myself ... sensya na mo mga Sana ...

Hi Dodong David!

I am married to a foreigner ... pero taliwas sa general belief nimo ... wala ko mahaylo sa kuarta!  I am not lifting my own self ... but you can ask around mismo diri sa TB ...

I am Annabelle Kay nee Annabelle Caga Tan mainly from Brgy Trinidad, Guindulman, Bohol.  Mag imbestiga ka kon gikan ba ko sa kakha-tuka nga familia, Dong; or unsa ko before I left the Philippines.

I can never claim to be rich ... but no one ... can classify me as kakha tuka!  And for your info ... (I know you are curious ... hehehe) my British husband is just 5 years older than I am ...

and never nga nabuslot ang bulsa sa akong bana because of my family.  Kulang na lang ang gastos ng husband ko when he visits the Philippines, is only the pamasahe!  Never nga nag check in mi in any hotel diha sa Pinas ... tungod sa ka pobre sa ahong bana ... and because mainly my family kahit papaano has some air-conditioned room to offer ... be it the Manila or sa Guindulman mismo ....

Repeat:  dili ko dato and nor is my family ... pero money never entered into the equation (for me ambot lang sa uban), when I married my British husband ... "i***" ahong habol Sir David ...

Whoever her friends are, please ask her to read Dale Carnegie's "How To Win Friends and Influence People"?  That is, if she really wants to be "loved" and respected by Boholanos in general?

There are a lot of ways of pointing "negative traits" without being insulting; correcting people from what one might think "wrong and undesirable" nga mga batasan and practices without being "holier-than-thou" ...

Bow na ko oist ... I don't want to sound preachy ... sensya na sa uban nga mga Sano ...

Day Happy!  Remember several years ago ... kini si jellybeans alyas precious?  naa pa ba ni sija diha sa atoa?  wala gyod motagam ning bajeha!

Basta all I can say is:  please let this jelly/prickly woman do an extensive research ... get the statistics right about 1)missing persons; 2) good family values; and 3) mental health ---between her "county" as she calls it ... and that of Bohol ...

IF she really can prove that the figures for the above-mentioned subjects in her "country" is more desirable compared to that of bohol's, ... then ... I might give her the benefit of the doubt and bow down to her "uppity" attitude ... otherwise ... please ... get properly "educated" or pay someone to EXTENSIVELY research, before even venturing to say anything unsavoury to others ...

If so ... how is your sister Ma. Socorro Mendez?  Will it be possible to get her contact details?

If you are not in any way related to Ma. Socorro ... pasensya na lang sa ahong pang disturbo?

So ... what about other towns?  Could a comparative table of the categories published for Guindulman, be made for that of the rest of the towns in the whole province of Bohol?

Just curious nganong para ra sa Guindulman ang napatik?  What about other towns?  Walay statistics?  Just curiuos, as I am from Guindulman ...

And unsa kahang mga barangay ang "sampling" group niani?  What is the exact scenario of such statistical data?

Does that mean then nga ug faithful ka, FANGIT ka?  hu?

Isip usa ka die hard nga Bol-anon, I would want to think that you can still be both BEAUTIFUL and FAITHFUL ...

However, if this stance goes against what is supposedly a scientific fact ... I would just want to put it down to being an EXCEPTION, to the general rule?

Most Bol-anons are exceptionally good-looking BUT faithful as well, di ba?

Maybe the RESEARCHERS of The Mail, should undergo a study about extremely good-looking Bol-anons?   ;D

Hi, Dong Lorenz!

What is wrong with being attracted to the opposite sex?

Are you aware that repressing your feelings ... might lead to imbalance ... ??? hu?  As the song says ..."di na makatulog ... di na makakain ... taghiyawat sa ilong ... pati na sa pisngi?  Sa kakaisip sa yo ..." ...

naunsa man ang apo ni Dagohoy ... bugnaw ba ug simod?  Hahahaha!

But seriously ... she might also have the same feelings for you ... HU?  A young man as good-looking as you, and as intelligent?  But how will you know ...

I think ... if I were in your shoes ... I will play it cool ... show her you like her; that you like her a lot in NO uncertain terms ... BUT NOT be too pushy or too maniac-ish?  If you are concerned about "ruining" your friendship ... you can try for the "UM" style of courtship initially?  (meaning UNDERSTANDING METHOD?  Some I think call it "MU"? ...

Hahahah! Just let me know if you feel keen to consider this option ... I will be glad to "ayudar" you --- provide you with strategic details of winning her, with the least damage if ever, in the most unlikely event, your feelings would NOT be returned?

Kinikilig ...

Mga Sano ug Mga Sana!

Apil na pod ko ha?  Hehehehe!

It has been a while now since I posted my last comment!

Filipino parents would "latus" their children when they do something NOT right, not to "abuse" the child, but to teach them and make an emphasis of what is "right and wrong"!  It is because Filipino parents believe that if you truly love your children, you need to point out, in no UNCERTAIN way --- correct, admirable and useful values!

It is I think partly from a Biblical quote, "Spare the rod, and spoil the child" ... that this need for parents to discipline and properly mentor children has arisen from.

Still, I find the generalizations about the people of Bohol very simplistic, if not [size=12ptoutright insulting[/size]. I am sure that in any society--even in those we call first-world like US, Japan or Europe, and not only in Bohol--you'll see nothing but dregs if you choose to settle there. While your awareness of the social condition of Bohol is admirable, I believe you should balance it with exposure to the less degenerate circles.

I really wish for you to have a happy life in Bohol, so move on to better company. Cheers and God bless you!

Hi, musta na Sir Bene!  So that is you in the picture na!!!  Not as cute as the son, but still guapo!   ;D

I also found her post(s) insulting.  She had been hurling all those insults even in previous topics.  She claims that her purpose is to wake people up into action?  Hahahaha!  But I would not bother sending her a direct rebuttal.  For one whose first language is supposedly English (forgive me if I am mistaken), she has a very serious reading comprehension problem.  She has the tendency of twisting other people's words to make it appear the opposite!

I am glad to see your comments ...

She deserves that tho, from what she said about Filipina women. And she's the exact opposite--a white woman who goes to the Philippines and beats her chest here and there. Sorry sweetheart, but not all Filipinas are what she says they are.

Btw, last i hear, Russian women are being sold as sex slaves and going abroad to marry foreign men as well. Same for vietnamese, thai, ukrainian, etc.

Filipinas are just down right beautiful. Of course white women will be jealous---they're taking their white men.

LOL.

I cant help it that our women are beautiful.

kasalanan ba nating mas maganda at mas masarap tayong magmahal kaysa mga tulad niya?

I am offended by your knowledge.

No I did not say "The Rich and the Famous" please reread since you want to be so defensive of everything.

What kind of a woman who is raised under being a catholic have this hatred that you love to boast about (weird)?
So are you saying that all foreigners abuse and kill and cut up children once they are adopted and brought back to America?

You did use the word "rich" ... and yes ... I simply presumed they might also be "famous"? ... Any problem with that?

I remember using the word "prevalence of ..."?  I did not say "all" as you are quoting!  RE-READ my posts AS WELL AS YOURS!  Read them with impartiality so you will better understand?  Ask other people's opinions, maybe?  Get their feedback as well?

And once again, you are wrong to presume that I am Catholic!  No I am not!  Maybe that explains why I could NOT help but react to your posts about my provincemates?

I am NOT out for a quarrel. I do not have the time for that, though, you might!  I simply sent my reaction to most of your posts lambasting the people of Bohol --- as if everyone owes you everything; and everything in the Philippines is UNJUST and Horrible?

That is, of course my own perception to your posts.  As you have the right to say anything, I also have the right to my own opinions, haven't I?

Angry?  Too immature to accept negative feedback?  Living in Fairyland?  Please sit down and properly digest my posts!  They were NOT meant to meddle with your personal affairs --- they were just feedback --- in the hope of giving you answers/clarifications/ideas/solutions, to issues you thought were UNJUST AND UNFAIR!

I will remain Proud to be a Boholana, no matter what you think of my home province, even when NOT everything in Bohol is as heavenly as you might want them!  I still think it is a nicer place to live than other places?  I look forward to "coming home" to Bohol --- as I have planned!!!  I will certainly continue contributing my share of "helping" --- my humble way --- WITHOUT ADVERTISING them to the world!

I won't dignify your tirades with any more messages.  I thought I have sent a final reply --- but could not find it on this thread --- thus this one.

LGU Philippines / Re: So Young, So Corrupt?

I wonder ... when is the next election of any kind in Bohol?

Could we in Tubag Bohol, perhaps, launch an "Educational Campaign" to effectively "thwart" vote-buying ... make it "outdated" in Bohol?  How do we go about designing a strategy of what and how to "RE-EDUCATE" our people?

I still think that if these masses are really itching for the Candidates' money and we just cannot stop them from accepting the "Bribe", they can be taught to accept but NOT deliver? They are not obliged to make good of an agreement or contract that is "illegal" --- "ab initio" (meaning illegal and immoral from the start / beginning) as the the said contract is NOT BINDING?

The way our electoral system is designed, is there a way for a vote-buying candidate to "CHECK" and "VERIFY" if those accepting their money have really made good of the implied bargain?

One would NOT know whose vote was it, when the votes are read or being tallied?  Except maybe for the penmanship?  I mean ... wala may pirma sa voting sheet mismo?

(Di ba --- Dili man mahibaw-an kung kang kinsang buto ang ginabasa ug gi tally?)

Mga legal minds diha ... comments pod please?

There must be a way to stop this "vote-buying" practice just so one could land in public office!!!  A slogan perhaps to the effect that:

Kandidatong mopalit sa buto, dako nga mangingilad ug CERTIFIED:  k******n!  Ayaw gyod saligi sa imong kinabuhi!!!  Pagmata, Bol-anon!  Ayaw pailad!

las month, i hosted a friend from a giant network in manila. he was here for an event. he stayed at the metro centre for almost one month.

he shared: your town is very classic when  it comes 2 customer service talaga. first my hotel won't accept their own gift checks , now even though i spent thousands worth of services  in the hotel they won't help me transfer my things across the street.

well, his experiences made bohol unforgettable!

Sorry jud Dong El Mundo ... I did not know nga ang Metro Center might be the name of the establishment!!!  Waaa!  Kini lagi ignoy!

I presume they are a big place for them to have the gumption to issue "Gift Certificates" ... so where are their "GCs" supposed to be valid?  Paluma-luma man sila?

A man will not go rob a bank if he has other choice to earn a living in a decent way.

I will defer to disagree with you in this, Day Ann ... one will almost always have choices ... one can go : maninda ug isda?  maninda ug sigarilyo?  maglako ng gulay/fruits?

There will always be honest options!  I am not trying to be saintly though!  I had once experienced maglako ng asin --- even when I was already a degree holder and licensed at that --- the first few days after I left my EX ... with the kids, and with me being NOT computer-literate at that time, and no capital at all ... I opted to sell SALT using the last P100 in my wallet!!!!  Waaa!  Bug-at maglako ng asin --- no easy job, what with my 2 kids (less than 4 year olds hila-hila ko) ... but I did persevere, until such time when one of my previous employers got me back on board!!! Do I feel ashamed doing it?  No!  That was a choice I made instead of asking (magsamok-samok) relatives for donations just so I can buy the milk my kids needed at that time;  moaning about the absence of a gigantic capital to make my ends meet!!!   :-[  Looy kaajo no?  Pero yes, that was what I did!  Dali ra unta pod ... offering one's body for pay?  If there would have been any takers, that is!  But ... tinda na lang ko asin!  Hehehehe!

See?  ... alam ko it is not easy ... but?  It is still DO-ABLE; rising to the challenges life hurls at each of us in a POSITIVE way!!!

So, no matter how difficult life becomes, there will always be choices ... just a question of sticking to positive ones and not being tempted with the "easier"-but-more-shady" solutions ...

Hello, Everyone!  Apil ko ha?

I think, each country has its own way of getting through ... Japan, Korea, Taiwan ... to mention a few right here in Asia ...

Para nako, dili problema ang daghan ug anak ... as long as there is teamwork between the couple, and that same "exceptional" attitude is successfully passed on to each member in the family.

The Filipinos thrive on having children ... unlike our European counterparts,  who see/think of children as hindrances to the activities they would usually indulge in (clubbing/parties/travel), most Filipino couples would even feel empty and frustrated about not being able to reproduce!!!  ... most of our men, feel shamed at not being able to contribute to our burgeoning population, their "pagkalalaki" being in question o di kaya nababawasan ... Di po ba?  Ang uban are even not happy just having daughters ... dili moundang ug dili makaanak ug lalaki?

Ang atong main problem diha sa Pilipinas:  CORRUPTION gyod!!!!!!!!!

Every year, how much do you think is the accumulated amount of government monies being siphoned to private pockets dishonestly and illegally?  Let us say P1 Billion? Or let us just quote a convervative P100 Million (because anything lower than this figure will be laughable and unbelievable to me - I am talking of combined figure for the whole Philippines, you see)!  Please take note:  the P100 Million I am quoting is:  ANNUAL stolen Philippine Peoples' money!!!!

Other problems?  Sobra show-off!!!  Bisan way ikasagad!  Politicians indulge in unnecessary "loho" for himself and his family, to maintain KUNO a certain standard; "aron-ingnon"?  Or to keep up with the "Joneses?"  Or plain "hambug" lang gyod!!!

Imagine how many hi-tech Government-operated universities could have risen and been maintained each year with such an amount?

1)I see that you are in Britain, why? because of the money.

2)Are you proud of the fact that a German man and his wife hired a housemaid, only to betray the couples trust and murder them for ...what? A stupid cellphone, some cash. And now that she is caught, this young housemaid's life is garbage, ruined. Are you proud of this?

3)But I hear you saying, "Precious, stop complaining stop talking about it. And leave this country."
If I were really proud, I would invite people to look at our accomplishments.

4)Just to say you are proud for prides sake is emptiness. And now what you say to Precious is small minded. Certainly nothing to be proud of.

I acknowledge having received your previous post about you being depressed over the situation ... and about you having misread my post!  I reiterate that there is no problem ...

But I would just want to answer the points you have raised marked by the red numbers on the qouted parts.

1) No ... I was earning enough in the Philippines as a C.P.A., thank you, before I came to join my British husband, in the UK.  I lived very comfortably.  I did not need much though, as I lived a very simple lifestyle! I raised my children even patronizing the local public schools, the way I attended public school during my elementary education years.  Unlike most Filipinos whose dream was to go abroad, mine was  --- just to stay in the Philippines!  If you don't believe this, you can ask me later for my husband's email address ... check this out with him!

(I wonder where you are from the States?  What made you live, and yearn for someplace else?)

I have read of countless of stories about Filipino professionals being treated in foreign lands as second-class citizens.  I did not want to be subjected to such a treatment.  Thus even from a young age, I did not dream of even going to your America.  If I did ... I would have taken up Nursing and not Accounting, you see?

I went to the UK to join my British husband ... to get f***** all I want!  Too bastos ... well, that is the plain truth ... sorry for probably offending some super sensitive people.  All the nice Filipinos were already taken, and Divorce is often frowned at, even when one can afford it!!!   :P ::)

2)   No I am certainly not proud of anyone killing anybody, irregardless of nationality!!!  But are you insinuating that I be responsible for their actions, for me to feel ashamed?  I will never hold you responsible for the countless DEATHS in Iraq due to your President Bush's warped ideas, will I?

3)  You heard WRONG! What I meant was that instead of moaning about DEBTS not being paid by her debtors, why NOT SUE THEM?  Hu?  Although I will admit about my amazement at why she sticks it out in a place that she thinks is so horrible; its people too ungrateful and simply gold-digging???  ... I would certainly not take it sitting down!

We moved from East Yorkshire to South Yorkshire mainly because of the worsening Anti-Social problems of the area where we lived! Would you have advised me to strangle all those Anti-Social kids with their parents?  Here in the UK, police visibility is much worse than in Bohol!!!!!  Ask your British friends about police statistics here if you don't believe me!!!

Not all residents of Hull are evil!  I understood that!  I did not malign the Yorkshire people for my house being egged by local ignorant kids!  We DID SOMETHING to solve the problem though!  WE MOVED!!! Now we are in a better area and neighborhood.

I still get taunts by even giant-sized girls at this village we live ... being "chinkee" (because they think that anyone NOT white-skinned is certainly from China!!!)... but do I lambast the people of Barnsley because of it?  No!  Definitely not!

I said that at least, you have decided not to be bothered with Bohol!

Then at least, maybe she might be happier somewhere else, in the meantime?  Cebu City might suit her better?  Or the province of Laguna?  Or Cavite? Zambales perhaps?  What about Batanes?  At least, your way presented a momentary solution of being spared the horrors of the place?

And NO ... Driving away people in Bohol does not make it a better place to live.  It needs SORTING OUT!  How I can help, I still do not have the foggiest of ideas! BUT BOHOL needs to definitely get its act cleaned!

You can be born here and move to America become a citizen and petition your cousins to go and migrate their also.
Can I do that here in the Philippines? It is not allowed.
So Miss proud how do I think when I can not even take my long time step daughter to the states unless I adopt her? I am a born citizen and from there?

First and foremost:  I do not know much about American immigration rules.  I will never claim to be a KNOW-ALL.  But from what little I know, Filipinos could not petition their COUSINS, Madam Precious!  Please check your info ... They can petition their PARENTS, I think.  Then, the Filipino parents can petition their children.  But of late there has been some changes to that, if I am not mistaken?  More stringent rules to curb migration to the U.S.?  ... and not VICE-VERSA (meaning NOT migration of Americans to the Philippines), certainly?

Second issue:  Are you still together with your step-daughter's Dad?  If so, why can't you get him to petition for her?  But if you are no longer with your step-daughter's Dad --- then under the law, and even under your own American law (???) you are not the kid's legal guardian? ... How does your own American embassy view this?  If ever, there is a problem with you wanting to take the kid to the States, it might be with your own American government not wanting to give the kids their VISAS?

All you need to do where the Philippine government is concerned is just get an AFFIDAVIT signed by both parents if they are both still alive --- allowing you to take the kids out?  (Please consult your lawyer though, as I am NOT a lawyer myself!  And what little I know about Philippine Jurisprudence, might already be OUTDATED!)

I had been separated from my kids' father for 13 years.  All those years, I had single-handedly supported my kids, not bothering their Dad!!!  He had NOTHING whatsoever to do with the kids for 13 years!!! But ironically I was STILL REQUIRED by my own government to produce the kids' Dad's notarized signature, allowing the kids to join me, their natural mother, who had raised them!  I do not know if Social Services will treat your step-daughter's case any differently.

But I think that law was passed (banning non-Filipinos) from getting Filipino kids out of the country, because of the prevalence of these kids' body parts being sold by unscrupulous foreigner posing as adoptive parents to these poor kids!!! (Please check this as I am not sure about the accuracy of this law).  There must be some way out, if this is the specific law that is causing all your grief!

It is all one sided.
Proud, I don't understand your tone. Are you saying that we should leave; because you don't like criticism?

Hi, Sir Frank!

No ... I am not saying that everyone should leave!  In fact the opposite, if you bother to read my previous posts?

What I am saying, was in response to Precious' post ... I said that I was just wondering ... bewildered ... ?

Please re-read what she had written ... and read it with an open mind? ... not because you are an American like her, but just an impartial reader, hu?

I know there are  a lot of problems in Bohol!  While I know how to dream, I also am a REALIST!  I do not like how things are being done here in the UK --- but do I have the right to cut the British to shreds just because there are some racist and unjust people out here?  Re-read what Precious had written!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ... before taking sides and spouting .... hu?  Crab mentality? Allergic to criticism?  Who is, really?

I reiterate:  I am not claiming the Boholano people to be SAINTS.  Maybe you and Precious think the American People are ... but I DON'T!

There are a lot to be sorted out!!!  I cannot even do anything from my side of the world, as of now!

Therefore, security measures have to be put in place by both the local government and the community. I  believe we should also think of our part in ensuring peace in our paradise.

You can buy land in my country but i can not buy land here and put it in my name.

That law had been designed mainly to make the Philippines, still belong to the Filipinos, at least in paper!!!

Do you think without such a law, there will be any place left for Filipinos to own?  Almost all the private beaches in Bohol are owned by some foreign nationals, through their Filipino spouses, of course!  Are you aware of that, Madam?  Without such a law ... what do you think will happen to the whole of the Philippines, what with the foreign exchange rates always to the advantage of you. Westerners, hu?

Filipinos could not buy the whole of your America, even in one's wildest dreams, Madam Precious, could they?

Do Filipinos have the freedom to go to your country without a VISA?  But you do have that benefit of entering and staying in the Philippines WITHOUT asking anyone's permission for at least 21 days, don't you?

Equal?  Who says everyone is equal?  In real life?  Maybe in theories and dreamer's books!  Spunning fairy tales ...?

I have nothing personal against you, Oh, High and Mighty Americana ... but you just make it sound as if ALL FILIPINOS, and for that matter, ALL BOHOLANOS had been sponging on you!  Reread your threads ... !  I am just sending my 2-cent's worth, even if I could not claim to have wined and dined with the rich and famous as you have said you have been doing!

I am not saying that Boholanos are a saint as a people.  Could you honestly say that of all your compatriots?  Hu?

I was just wondering ... that if Bohol is such a bad place, with its corrupt politicians and it's citizenry mainly composed of non-paying debtors and locals with crab mentality ... why bother living in their midst?  ... I reiterate ... I am just wondering!!! ... Repeat to the point of being super makulit ... just wondering why ... with all the perceived NEGATIVES ... why bother living amongst "savages" and "ignoramses"?

Justino "Ning" Romea is a native of Barangay Napo, Loon, Bohol. He is the composer of the Bohol Hymn "Awit sa Bohol". He is also the composer of the Rafael Palma College or RPC Song (now UB Hymn) and many other school anthems. He is best remembered for the love song "Ako Kang Paabuton", the folk song "Sa Daplin sa Baybayon" as well as most of the songs featured in the annual 'drama' presentations in his native Napo for which he served as writer, director and musical arranger.

Hi, Macky!

Do you maybe happen to have any available link to the Mr. Romea's "Ako Kang Paabuton" and "Sa Daplin sa Baybayon" songs?  I am very interested to hear it!

Ug thanks in advance, ha!

I am so tired of the talking by all you Philippine persons if it is so bad then put your words to action. You know it is bad so do something about it? Stop whining!

You are right Ms Precious! It becoming very tiresome to hear a lot of moans and not SEEING anything to NIP the root of it all!

I wonder if you had already tried other countries as well?  Then you won't be as frustrated as you are now in Bohol!

Sir Franklin had decided NOT to live in Bohol!  At least he had come to a very sound decision!

Oo bitaw ... I have heard quite  a number of positive feedback about the Manila Mayor!!!

I feel a little compelled to explain why I claim my roots in Bohol, even if I did not grow up there nor speak the language like a native.

I would like to return the courtesy ... of my life's story ...

My father is from Guindulman.  My mother was from Guindulman (she died some 38 years ago --- thus I thought I needed to use separate verbs for each !!!  Waaaa!  (Guindulman is the town before Candijay, if you are travelling from Jagna ...)

I had attended 3 schools for my Elementary levels (Tagbi, Guindulman & Cebu City).  I had attended 4 schools for my High School (Danao Visayan Institute, Saint Mary Academy, Cebu Central Colleges & Holy Cross Academy). Then 2 colleges for my Accounting Degree (PSBA & DWC); CSJR for my Review.

I know the feeling you see ... about being here, there and everywhere ...

I have been assigned to work in several regions when I was working with the COA - Performance Audit Office.  Then before the EDSA Revolution, I left COA to job-hop! ... I have been to a number of industries, namely:  Manufacturing, Freight Forwarding, Exports, Accounting/Auditing/Tax troubleshooting.  I have also joined several multi-level marketing networks (unsuccessfully!!) and ventured into unconventional personal businesses such as Beekeeping, Fish propagation, Perfume Manufacturing, Jewelry-Making, Garments Manufacturing, various product distribution activities ... and a lot more --- all in search of better earning oppurtunities!

While a lot of people say that life in the Philippines is difficult, I have never lacked oppurtunities of earning an HONEST peso here and there --- even when I was hampered by my lack of capital ...

Unlike most Filipinos whose major dream was to live/visit/work abroad, I did not share such an urge!  I have always believed that "Life is what you make it ..."

I have been based in the Phils, until 2002 when I reluctantly came to the UK to join my British husband, whom I had meet a year before --- online!  Yes, I met my husband online!   ;D

I do not like the jobs I have had to endure here in the UK, but, I still need to slug it on --- The degree I gained in the Phils and my PRC ID are useless!  I had to work hard to slowly get UK-based qualifications.  I now teach various UK-accredited computer-related courses ...

That is why I would flatly say that I had a much easier life in the Phils, than what I have here in the UK.  Thus, my dream of going home!  I was happier on my own turf ... being my own boss ... being directly in charge of my destiny ...

I have lived in several places here in the UK, and nowhere could I say that they are safer than Bohol?  I would still want to be in my Beloved Bohol any time of day ... except that ... I need to take into consideration other loved ones' safety and comfort ...

On this point ... I think I need to park to minimize boring you all to tears!!!  :P

(I just hope that I had properly edited any spelling or grammatical errors!  Hirap mag edit ng mahaba na litanya!  Waaaa)

Hi, Dong Bene!  Mo welcome pod ko nimo ... even if I, myself, is also new dire sa TubagBohol!

I think every commentator of this thread is very much on the ball, so to speak.  While we cannot but feel concerned over the latest numbers of criminal activities diha sa ato sa Bohol,  I still think that Bohol is still a peaceful and safer place to live, compared to others.

Wa lang ta maanad about having such criminal activities being perpetuated diha sa ato, maong mas shocking to our system whenever crime happens ...

I would even sing my husband the Bohol Hymn ... "imong kalinaw giampingan ... to my dear home .... Bohol" ...

Does anyone still know the song?  Or is it still being sung after the National Anthem?   ;D

I have mentioned about the Bohol Hymn kay, as my Username indicates, I proudly claim Bohol to be one of the best, if not the Best Province in the entire Philippines --- The Boholano folks with its untiring quest for betterment and originality; nga even as far back as roughly 50 years ago, Bohol has its own provincial hymn, unlike other provinces ...

The intensity of life's problems, could I think, be aptly compared to an exam.  The more difficult an exam, the more respect one gains for passing it?   ;D

Reading materials like this, makes my eyes water, Dong Mike, as it is almost instinctive for most people to blame God for calamities and problems!

Some people even think that they do not need God in their lives, as they think that they are self-sufficient and very able, in all respects!  But until they are besieged with problems beyond their control, it is then that they start to acknowledge the presence of God!

If you desire to help lessen the grief and devastation felt by the wife (and their 4 kids) of our heroic Bol-anon security guard, you can now send your donation directly to Candida Canizar (it's an enye for the "n" in the family name - my computer keyboard does not permit me an enye, I don't know...)

Me, I get to use the "enye" character by simultaneously pressing the "ALT key + 164" ... you need to keep the "alt key" pressed while punching the numbers: 164 ... the "ñ" character appears after buhian na ang "alt key" ...

It took me quite a while, thinking and re-thinking ... Kinsa ba jud ko?

My nieces and nephews call me Auntie Bru ... short for Auntie Bruha!

Yes, I could really be bitchy when provoked!  When I am on my normal mode, I am garrulous ... "Taratitat"!  But when I fume, I make it a point to shut up --- not wanting to say anything out of anger!

So ... my husband worries when I am tahimik ... because, it could be that:  I am not feeling well or I am on a warpath!   ;D :P  :D ;)

Dong Mike!  Unsa man ang imong Paypal Email nga mapadad-an sa hinabang? Paypal because it will not cost anything on the part of the donors to send the money ...

Besides ... kon ija-ija, aho-aho ang style in sending the monies ... the impact would not be as greatly felt ... tingali ...

Palihug na lang ko ug post pod, which email address to send the money?

My main concern is the kids' continued education, as much as possible.  The bank might take care of the immediate burial needs, you see!  It is the after-the-funeral scenario I am worried about ... plain housewife ra ba ang widow ...

But who is the Editor of the newspapers she was writing for?  The Editors should also have been made to pay for such "katangahan"  ... Grrrrrrrreeeeeeeee ... nanggalaiti pa rin ako, no matter how much I try to look at the funny side of this "litson-looking" woman!!!!!

Guard killed in Tagbilaran bank heist!

A security guard was killed when at least three robbers held up the Bank of Commerce in Tagbilaran City around noon Tuesday, police said.  Remegio Cañizar, 38 died in a shootout with the robbers.

Nan, karon Mga Sano Ug Sana ... naa ba intawon tay matabang sa namatay nga guard?  Intawon pod ug gagmay pa ang anak sa namatay?  Will it be possible to maybe raise money gikan dinhe sa Tubag Bohol for the family of the late guard?

Pananglitan may mohatag ug gamay nga amount, kinsa bay maka facilitate nga makaabot intawon ang kuarta sa pamilya ng pobreng guardia nga namatay?

Come on!  Let's do something ... BESIDES always moaning about how our beloved BOHOL's peaceful situation had drastically deteriorated of late!!!

Some kind of Trust fund or Scholarship fund for the late guard's kids kon duna man galing to siya mga anak? ... o tabang ba kaha sa mga ginikanan nga nag-ugod ugod na tingali?

Paypal is already available in the Philippines, I have heard ... Mike, can we be able to send money to you, for you to forward to the said late guard's family?  Or kang Inday Fiel na lang kaha i-c/o?  Or can anyone find out the late guard's exact address aron makapamalihug ko paadto ...

I wonder if this article would ever reach the decision makers of any armed struggle in our country?  Why don't they fight ignorance by BUILDING more schools, instead of having to spend their resources on Armas ug mga Bala? ... buy more BOOKS, SHOES & UNIFORMS instead of creating havoc in the lives of people?

Kumbaga ... better and positive use of resources ba?

I still believe that no matter what, dili solution sa mga problema nato ang mopatay, just to trigger some change!

And I still do not believe that Communism is an answer!

Wa lang seguro ibang magawa ang mga supposedly "intellectuals" na yan ... minsan kasi, when one if full of idealism without being a realist, mao na dangatan -- ill-advised opinions and beliefs and convictions!  OK ra unta if said decisions only concern themselves --- dili --- instead of presenting positive solutions, theyl muddle the waters more, and worsen the situation!
