I feel a little compelled to explain why I claim my roots in Bohol, even if I did not grow up there nor speak the language like a native.
I would like to return the courtesy ... of my life's story ...
My father is from Guindulman. My mother was from Guindulman (she died some 38 years ago --- thus I thought I needed to use separate verbs for each !!! Waaaa! (Guindulman is the town before Candijay, if you are travelling from Jagna ...)
I had attended 3 schools for my Elementary levels (Tagbi, Guindulman & Cebu City). I had attended 4 schools for my High School (Danao Visayan Institute, Saint Mary Academy, Cebu Central Colleges & Holy Cross Academy). Then 2 colleges for my Accounting Degree (PSBA & DWC); CSJR for my Review.
I know the feeling you see ... about being here, there and everywhere ...
I have been assigned to work in several regions when I was working with the COA - Performance Audit Office. Then before the EDSA Revolution, I left COA to job-hop! ... I have been to a number of industries, namely: Manufacturing, Freight Forwarding, Exports, Accounting/Auditing/Tax troubleshooting. I have also joined several multi-level marketing networks (unsuccessfully!!) and ventured into unconventional personal businesses such as Beekeeping, Fish propagation, Perfume Manufacturing, Jewelry-Making, Garments Manufacturing, various product distribution activities ... and a lot more --- all in search of better earning oppurtunities!
While a lot of people say that life in the Philippines is difficult, I have never lacked oppurtunities of earning an HONEST peso here and there --- even when I was hampered by my lack of capital ...
Unlike most Filipinos whose major dream was to live/visit/work abroad, I did not share such an urge! I have always believed that "Life is what you make it ..."
I have been based in the Phils, until 2002 when I reluctantly came to the UK to join my British husband, whom I had meet a year before --- online! Yes, I met my husband online!
I do not like the jobs I have had to endure here in the UK, but, I still need to slug it on --- The degree I gained in the Phils and my PRC ID are useless! I had to work hard to slowly get UK-based qualifications. I now teach various UK-accredited computer-related courses ...
That is why I would flatly say that I had a much easier life in the Phils, than what I have here in the UK. Thus, my dream of going home! I was happier on my own turf ... being my own boss ... being directly in charge of my destiny ...
I have lived in several places here in the UK, and nowhere could I say that they are safer than Bohol? I would still want to be in my Beloved Bohol any time of day ... except that ... I need to take into consideration other loved ones' safety and comfort ...
On this point ... I think I need to park to minimize boring you all to tears!!!
(I just hope that I had properly edited any spelling or grammatical errors! Hirap mag edit ng mahaba na litanya! Waaaa)
