Along B. Jayoma-

Guindulmanon ko, pero dili ko mo-agree nimo.  You're out context already.

In fairness to this person mentioned above, you should refrain from naming names.

That is NOT right.

Posters here have the right to remain anonymous or confidential. You can not pinpoint that to someone since that was not the poster's intention.

Watch out, these internet forum documents can be used in the court of law.

You can reply your own response.

Because if you ask me, there is nothing to elaborate. Everything has been said, explained or responded. If you have a problem with that, tallk to my real big hand.

To me, this "trees" case is closed and nothing else to talk about. I do have better things to think about.

I don't know about you guys but if you want to start a case, I guess, make sure you know how to explain your side even further up to the Supreme Court. Because if you can't, why bother?

Why waste your time and somebody else's if things are really not that of a big deal.  This "trees" issue is old news and has been taken cared of.

ARE YOU KIDDING ME???

Wow, very well said.

However, the fact remains that there is an on-going environmental issue in your town perpetrated by the incumbent mayor in collaboration with DENR employees.

The bottom line is, no matter what, nobody can bring the trees back. That is the issue here on TB no more no less. You are right; this issue is really very emotional. It is about conscience, it is about respect to our environment, it is about a crime to humanity, it is about commitment to protect Mother Earth, it is about being a Boholano.

It is about responsibilities that every Boholano should share in whatever capability we can afford to offer.

It's the flock, the grove, that matters.
Our responsibility is to species, not to specimens;
to communities, not to individuals."
-   Sara Stein, 1998, Author of Noah's Garden

I don't think it is your business to perpetrate the issue or make it a big deal and linger on it forever but you can, I guess, if you want to.

It seems that it was done with permission and consultation with proper authority. Whatever happens during the process, who are we to question that unless there is a proof that it was sanctioned illegally. As far as we are concerned, this issue is closed and resolved. Things were done with proper permit, then give it a rest.

It is not illegal if the authorities (DENR or whatever) gave the go signal. MOVE ON..!!! You have better things to take care of.

People power works only when it is absolutely necessary like Marcos' dictatorship. There was no democracy. Scholars do not recommend it because it is chaotic and things are way out of control. I was a part of people power in 1986 and I was in EDSA when I was in Manila that time and I know what it was like and how chaotic that was if you really think about it.

You cannot live in people power if you have legitimate, elected officials already like at this time. They are elected by the majority and they make decisions for the people if they benefit the majority. They might not be always right but the next elections will take care of that esp. if they run for re-elections. Do not re-elect them. Use democratic processes instead of using your mouths to "talaktak" about this forever. Unfortunately, she won again this time. She must have done more good things than bad ones and you cannot discredit that if the people like her and voted for her. That is a "no-brainer".

Remember, people power and democracy are not the same and they do not mix. The former is chaotic while the latter takes care of the chaos and maintaining peace and order. This is Political Science 101..

I think I have said enough on this issue. You guys should know this by now. HELLOO!!

what is interesting about guindulman?  those cut trees, what else!

superior genes, real or imagined, have nothing to do with cut trees.  so let's grant that guindulmanons have everything better, bigger, fairer, and all the townspeople may be due for canonization, but hey, does it have anything to do with cut trees, which is the raison d'etre for the slew of posts about the town here in tb?

so sorry, abjayoma.  harping about how superior your town and its people are won't bring back those trees, which belonged to humanity.

Get over that trees issue. Talking about them is not going to make any lives better. The humanity doesn't own the trees. You know who they belong to. I don't have to spell it out for you. You know better than that. If you don't, you have to figure it out yourself, sorry. Or maybe this conversations would not occur if you have to get that trees issue a rest.

Everybody has other things to worry about. But if you want to continue talking about them to the point that it is irritating already to listen to, then this issue will continue, plain and simple. And this could escalate to who knows.

I hope you understand what I mentioned about Guindulmanons. I don't have to elaborate them or add some more. They are self-explanatory and if you smart enough which you claim you are, then you don't need somebody to explain it to you.

Have a good day..

I don't recall I know anyone from guindulman.I'm pretty sure my family is.I'm impressed the way you defend them, but you make it sounds like you people is from different planet. We're all Boholanos hopefully mold in the same character you are describing.
I'm still proud the way you stood up for the criticism in your town. That says a lot...

Thank you.

I am glad that there is someone out there who understands where I come from.

I could not just listen to what these "people" (who live in this forum 24/7) are saying about Guindulman for the most part and accept everything they said. There are always two sides of the story and everyone should listen to both and judge them for themselves.

I am sick and tired of hearing people criticizing Guindulman to the max like they know better or more intelligent than the people that live in that town.

It is okey to criticize us but somebody needs to say hey, what you said are too much and you need to f*** off as it is getting to the point where they are no longer beneficial to the community and they bring things down.

Remember, we have the Tamblot genes in us, Guindulmanons. Hey, I am just saying the fact what I have learned in my Bohol history books.

Thank you and God bless.

How sad if this case proves to be that of a place being lorded over by rich and ambitious hypocrites who, to add insult to injury, enjoy the support of incompetent sycophants.

i subscribe to this hubs!

If you keep on calling people bad names, people will condemn you and they can call you worst names that you could never imagine. If you don't like their posts, then leave them alone.

They have your opinions like you do.

Respect begets respect, understand that. Matanda ka pa naman, you should know better. Being matanda does not give you the permission or authority to use name-calling like sycophants or whatever because that is being disrespectful to anyone even to young ones of the young generation who are listening to you esp if they are stating their opinions.

Plus you cannot stop stop me from stating my opinions by calling me names. Ironically, you are calling for more arguments or even verbal war.

You are actually teaching the young ones as well to do the same thing being disrespectful and the cycle will continue. I tried not to call anyone bad names bec that is very inappropriate and inhumane, again inhumane. And there you are with your cohorts in this forum calling everyone names like ignorants, etc. What?

That is so pathetic..

By the way, there is a difference between saying "that is so pathetic" and calling somebody "you are pathetic". I am being the former and not the latter. I just need to say that. If you don't understand that, sorry that is not my problem. But the intelligent people know better.

Teach them to be respectlful by being respectful to them. As an adult you should know that by now and apparently, you do not. What a shame.

Otherwise we will disrespect you like you disrespect us. PEACE..!!

A wiseman knows that he is intelligent and he has to show that off to people so they would know and be used by them to improve their lives. Otherwise he would be rotten and useless.

If you think I am a wise man, thanks for the complement. But I really don't need praises from somebody like you who is a negative person to begin with. Sorry..

You are supposed to be the CEO? How did that happen? But you don't behave and act like one. You should be stripped off of that title or don't use it is annoying.

You can say whatever you want like you labeled me with those terms that are not true, derogatory and you are being very disrespectful. You are supposed to be respectful and not using name calling. But you did and I don't appreciate that.

If you think I am arrogant, and so do you. It takes one to know one, I guess. So there you go.

My opinions are mine, you don't have to take it. Too bad, that is the way it is.

If you want people to respect you, you have to respect others. Stop using those names bec. they might refer to you too.

As far as I know, I posted my opinons and you should leave it like the way it is. Peace.

Too bad..!! Take it or leave it. If you have a problem with that, your problem, not mine (Shruggg)..

OMG..!!

This is unbelievable..!!

If you look at the summary of posts that "Guindulman" has in this blog forum as of today, May 29, 2010 among the 40 plus towns of Bohol, there are about more than 1,200 posts, few hundreds less than Valencia.

Of course with bigger population and land areas of Ubay and Tagbilaran, they have the highest number of posts. And that is expected.

But for Guindulman, this is a big surprise, though it has slight bigger population and land area compared to Jagna.

What does this mean?

1.) GUINDULMAN IS ALWAYS HOT.
It has lots of hot stuff that people would love to talk about. When interesting and intelligent Guindulmanons talk, other Boholanos all over listen. Hmm, that is quite interesting.

2.) It is either that there is a jealousy component that other non-Guindulmanons have regarding our people and would love to bring them and Guindulman town down or they are riding its popularity in order to learn how our town blossomed to be what it is right now.

3.) There might have Guindulmanons that have the money or perhaps millionaires that they cannot beat money-wise and they can't get over that. They tend to discredit them because that is the only way they can beat them, at least they tried. Not going to happen. Guess what, Gunidulmanons know how they do their businesses here and abroad and they are not going to tell you. Duh..!!

4.) Guindulmanons are expressive and open to all sorts of good ideas and they work as a team toward a common goal. That is really a good thing, hmmm.

5.) Guindulmanons are educated and smart. They can bring lots of ideas to the table. It is a matter of time that the town will grow into another CITY in the future in this Southeastern part of Bohol.

6.) Guindulmanons are "beautiful" people genetically. The breeding of the Tamblot tribe that used to live close to Tabajan River and the Spaniards in the Sawang part of Poblacion was the best heritage our forefathers gave us. Tamblot's men were fighting against the Spaniards during Spanish colonization of the Philippines.

7.) Guindulmanons are known to be artists: they are known to be painters, choreographers, dancers, make-up artists, hairstylists, creative songwriters, singers, stage perfomers, and the like. And they like to decorate themselves, one way or another, to be noticed or objects of envy.

8.) Guindulmanons are go-getters (perhaps aggressive sometimes). They know what they want and they go for it.

9.) They are trendsetters of "southeastern" Bohol. They are being looked into, looked at, criticized a lot, or being pulled down but they are resilient. They go up further higher if they are being pulled down.

Those who are Guindulmanon detractors, you can chase us or bring us down, but the entire town will shine.

SHINE GUINDULMAN SHINE.

There are lots of foristas in here that are NOT Guindulmanons. They are here to bring us down. They criticize us to the max. But we, Guindulmanons, know better and they will go and move forward and upward whether you like it or not..

The "doom" curse is nowhere to be found. It is no longer around..!!!

yes wolf, and it carries the slogan VOX PECUNIAE, VOX DEI (The voice of Money is the voice of God)

Your interpretation is totally wrong and out of context. If you have nothing better to do but to create some confusion, chaos or bad arguments, people should leave you alone.

The poor can run for office but they have to stay poor or whatever financial capability they were in (or personal income from businesses they started) prior to running for an office or career that they choose other than being a public official.

When public officials start to get rich, you know that there is a chance that they are stealing funds from the people and government treasury. They are liable and be jailed if found guilty, plain and simple. Somebody should be jailed already by now to teach these corrupt public officials big lessons. That is plain logic.

If you are rich already and would like to run for a public office, then maybe that is much better. You just have to disclose your assets and money so you will not be accused of stealing prior to serving a public office. Maybe this is a good rule, no problem. You have the money and leave the people's money alone to important community projects and important government transactions.

Public servants are not supposed to be rich while they are in power. The job is voluntary and they should not be compensated. It becomes a problem if the poor public servant becomes rich from stealing public funds and illegal briberies.

Watch out. You might be taking these points out of context. As long as you do not steal money for your daily needs living on your income with your career or whatever financially stability you are in and get rich from stealing people's money, that is always the rule.

Stop being narrow - minded folks and do not twist opinions around making such good opinions look bad. That is wrong and you should not do that to anyone. That is plain outrageous.

Yes, you can criticize somebody and expect some people to defend what is right or whoever is doing good and that is just a given.

Yes, you can say whatever you want and at the end of discussion, it boils down to this: it is my right to express my opinions. Duh, it's an old story. I believe in that since it's true but is an old blah (sort of an excuse for trying to hurt somebody).

I still believe that people can defend other people esp. if they are doing the right thing or doing something good for the community or placing things in correct perspectives. Like you know, fair is fair.

I hope you guys post something that is fair and square because people know better even if they are not responding.  Please do yourself and your townmates a favor.

Just make sure that when you state your opinions, they are way too strong to be toppled down. Otherwise, you are just wasting your time and of others'.

Nobody wants to suppress your right to express your opinions but expect people to respond to them to wake you up. And you know that already. You are such a waste of time if that is the case.

You can suggest better ideas and proposals and do them actually yourself with your bare hands, and not just trying to be a pain in the neck. That will be appreciated. Or perhaps you start a community project that will help this community.

You have to increase the customer base of Guindulman by encouraging everyone in the towns of Eastern Bohol area to come and buy their market needs in our town.

Eventually, you have to sustain that increasing customer base by opening schools, colleges or universities, and sports and recreation arenas, fish port, ship port, airport, radio and TV stations, etc. so the economy will grow and not gonna die down.

Think about it folks.

Guindulman is going to progress and not regress. In short, let us move forward since there is no turning back anymore.

MOVE ON PEOPLE !!!!!

You cannot go back time but you can make things better by planting more Acacia Trees in non-strategic areas which should be protected by town ordinance away from the town center or poblacion Sawang or Tabajan.

You can plant as much as 400 - 500 acacia tress and create a mini forest, hoping you can leave these trees to your children, grand children and great grandchildren. You can label this protected area somewhere in Tabunok or in Bayong or around those areas as the Guindulman Protected Forest of Acacia Trees, then this might develop intro a tourist attraction for the town of Guindulman (or it will be a city by that time) in more than one hundred years from now.

Somebody has to procure this land for such purpose by a private person or company, or the municipal or national government.

Everyone has his or her opinions on lots of things and issues.

And each leader has his or her own way of leading group of people or community based on financial resources, current political aura, personal life experiences and community needs. This mayor is given the authority to decide lots of things being an elected official (if you have a problem with her winning stint, then blame it to the people who gave her good votes) and she should make decisions on lots of things.

There are so many ways in killing a cockroach like there are so many ways to lead our town or decide how this market would look like as its end result.

As long as at the end of the day, the Mayor is doing what is good for the town / community, that is what she is elected for. I have no problem her building this market as long as everything is LEGAL, then she has my approval, period.

I only have a problem with those people who open their mouths saying they can do better but have not proven to actually had done things to reflect what they are saying. I also have problems with those who are running for elected offices trying to get what the governements can do for them like monthly salaries town and baranggay officials, instead of thinking what they can do for the people they are serving or their country or community.

You should have your personal resources already on board that can sustain your life as a public servant or elected public official. Because commitment and voluntary public service is what these work is all about. If you do not have enough personal resources, then leave public office and work somewhere else to make a living other than extracting money from people's money being a public official.

The acacia trees are some of the good-ole treasures of Guindulman. But there are some more. When "she" toppled them down, she knew what she was doing including repercussions (like mayor election) in the long run. She did it because of reasons she thought will serve public. I believe that some of the trees were rotten, looked ugly and were "eye-sores" in front of the newly-constructed public market. I'm sure she did this after consultation with other government officials. As the head of the town or as a leader, she had to decide or make some changes if necessary. Sometimes, they are hurtful but she was voted on to make some easy and difficult decisions.

The Guindulmanons that are living in town have been able to accept what had happened little by little and have moved on. Their lives have changed somehow and they like what she had done so far. She did lots of things and people are satisfied. You cannot judge someone by one bad thing (according to you but not with others) and forget the good ones she did. She impressed lots of Guindulmanons more than Atty. Ondoy Granada had done during numerous terms he served. They see something new in the community with her administration when they are hungry to see them.

Guindulman is one of the "ten biggest towns" of Bohol and has a potential to grow economically and become the next economic flag-bearer of southeastern part of the province, especially when tourism in the Anda Peninsula (Guindulman, Anda and Candijay?) will grow exponentially.

Personally, I think that former Mayor Granada was a failure. He failed to deliver what other mayors of bigger towns of Bohol like Jagna, Talibon, Tubigon, etc. did (talking about lots of so many things) and he should leave Guindulman alone to those who can do better.  He should not have re-run for mayor again. He is shame to the educated Guindulmanons and will continue to do so if he is re-elected.

Let there be progress in our town (and hopefully soon-to-be city) of Guindulman. And let's start planting more acacia trees "outside" public views or poblacion might not be a bad idea for our Guindulmanon great grandchildren to enjoy one hundred years from now.
