29IB rescues injured CTG frontrunner
Army operating troops of the 29th Infantry “Matatag” Battalion rescued a wounded Communist Terrorist Group (CTG) leader after he was abandoned by his comrades last May 19, 2022 at the hinterland of Brgy Bangonay, Jabonga, Agusan del Norte.
The abandoned wounded CTG leader was identified as Elgelbert Bongaos known as “Cadong”, squad leader of Sentro De Grabidad (SDG), Guerilla Front 16 (GF16), North Eastern Mindanao Regional Committee (NEMRC). The 29IB troops rush the said CPP-NPA Terrorist (CNT) to the nearest hospital for his further medication after first aid had been administered to the aforementioned enemy personality.
Army Commanding General Lt. Gen. Romeo S. Brawner, Jr., commended the troops of the 29IB for their strict adherence to human rights especially to enemy combatants. This action proves that despite of pressure of the situation, our Army gives primodial concern on human rights, to the enemy and civilians as well.
