61IB unearth CNT arms cache in Iloilo
Operating troops of the 61st Infantry Battalion (61IB), 3rd Infantry Division unearthed an arms cache of CPP-NPA Terrorists (CNTs) at the hinterlands of Sitio Parapada, Brgy. Lanag Norte, Tubungan, Iloilo on May 17, 2022.
Troops recovered an M16 rifle, two improvised shotguns, three magazines for M16 (two 30 rounds capacity and one 20 round capacity), one magazine for improvised shotgun, eighty-three rounds of 5.56mm ammunition and a bandolier. The recovery of the war materiel stems from the information provided by a certain alias “Dino”, former political guide of Sibat Platoon, Southern Front, Komiteng Rehiyon - Panay.
Army Commanding General Lt. Gen. Romeo S. Brawner, Jr., lauded 61IB troops for the seizure of the arms cache in which it will incapacitate communists-terrorists from committing atrocities in the community. The Army Chief has vowed to push down much-needed resources to all ground forces to bolster their campaign against all threat groups in the country.
