KABAYAN PARTY-LIST FILES INTENT TO RUN IN 2019 ELECTIONS

KABAYAN Party-list has filed before the Commission on Elections (COMELEC) its Manifestation of Intent to Participate in the 2019 national elections.

The official filing was undertaken by KABAYAN Party-list Representatives Ron P. Salo and Ciriaco S. Calalang, together with Party Secretary General Joshua P. Sebastian and Spokesperson Angelica Jones, former 2-term provincial board member of Laguna.

Also with the KABAYAN delegation for the COMELEC filing were all its members of the Board of Trustees and supporters.

During the 2016 national elections, KABAYAN Party-list garnered two seats in the House of Representatives.  It has remained on track in the pursuit of its core advocacies of KAlusugan (health), paBAhay (housing), kabuhaYAN (livelihood), education and overseas Filipino workers (KABAYAN +2).

These core advocacies are realized through human rights-based legislation and direct extension of support and assistance to people and communities, especially those at the margins of society.

The Party-list’s core leadership and membership represent a range of sectors in society, such as the people’s and grassroots organizations, pastoral and civic groups, overseas workers, urban and rural poor, academe, and professionals.

Insofar as legislation is concerned, KABAYAN Party-list is behind the filing of responsive bills such as the Universal Health Care, Philippine Mental Health Law, Emergency Medical Services, creation of the Department of Housing, providing regular salaries to barangay officials, transforming the paradigm of basic education from 3Rs to 3Cs (or from employability to empowerment), increase of salaries of teachers, and the creation of the Department of Migration and Development, among others.

In the meantime, direct assistance has been given by KABAYAN Party-list to various groups in terms of educational and medical assistance, medical outreach, skills training, emergency employment and support for local infrastructure.  To date, KABAYAN Party-list has provided financial support to several thousands of students in several colleges and thousands of patients in various hospitals around the country.  Its medical outreach, including the distribution of wheelchairs, has also benefited numerous communities, families and individuals.

“KABAYAN Party-list remains focused in its vision of empowering every Filipino, and its mission of uplifting the lives of our people.” Rep. Salo said.  “In pursuit of this noble task, we are well guided by and grounded on our faith in an Almighty God who never fails to be our greatest source of inspiration and strength,” Rep. Salo stressed further. (END)

John 3:16-18 ESV
For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son (Jesus Christ), that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him. Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only Son of God.
