President Rodrigo Roa Duterte presides over the Joint Meeting of the National Task Force - Regional Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict in Eastern Visayas (NTF-RTF-ELCAC VIII) at the Summit Hotel in Tacloban City, Leyte on March 18, 2021.
The meeting provides an avenue for officials to discuss the most recent accomplishments of the Task Force in Eastern Visayas, alongside topics such as the socio-economic overview and security situation in the region.
On 4 December 2018, the President issued Executive Order (EO) No. 70 that created the NTF-ELCAC and institutionalized a whole-of-nation approach towards obtaining sustainable peace in the hopes of putting an end to more than five (5) decades of local communist insurgency.
The RTF-ELCAC VIII adopted the 12 Lines of Efforts (LOEs) formulated at the national level in the implementation of its programs and projects. Since its inception, the Task Force’s regional arm continues to push for initiatives to end insurgency and develop conflict-affected areas in Eastern Visayas.
