12 BIFF members yield in Maguindanao
A total of 12 Bangsamoro Islamic Freedom Fighters (BIFF) under the Karialan Faction surrendered and turned over their weapons to the Army's 40th Infantry “Magiting” Battalion (40IB), 6th Infantry Division on March 30, 2022 at Barangay Kabengi, Datu Saudi Ampatuan, Maguindanao.
Joint efforts of the military, police and Ampatuan, Maguindanao local government unit led to the surrender of the BIFF members who turned over two 7.62mm rifles, two 5.56mm M16A1 rifles, two cal. 50 sniper rifles, one 7.62mm Sniper rifle, one 40mm grenade launcher, two M79 grenade launchers, and two 9mm sub-machine guns.
Army Commanding General Lt. Gen. Romeo S. Brawner, Jr., lauded 40IB troops and Army’s peace partners for facilitating the surrender of the 12 former BIFF rebels. The Army Chief called on the 40IB to maximize its operational gains, as he assured Army leadership's support to all Army lines units.
