The latest conflict of Mayor Dan Lim and Vice-Mayor Toto Veloso was feared as the would-be-prevailing scenario at city hall for the next three-year term of Mayor Lim having to contend with a vice mayor belonging to an opposite political camp, a city hall worker who requested anonymity said.

Tagbilaran City is the only remaining LGU in Bohol not able to implement the 10% salary increase mandated by law supposed to take effect last July. Roads are full of potholes, drainage canals becoming health hazard and city crime rate rising.

“These officials are too engrossed in politics,” a source said.

Lim won his second term trouncing come backing former city mayor Joe Torralba but lost his running mate, then incumbent vice mayor Jas Montes.

Veloso who was on his second term as city councilor, joined Torralba as official running mate under the ruling party Lakas-CMD, enjoying the backing of his brother in law, incumbent first district congressman Edgar Chatto.

Mayor Lim said Veloso is in a hurry and too ambitious as a politician.

“Things will never be the same again. Now let’s separate the men from the boys,” Mayor Lim declared.
