VOTE BUYING: MOST RAMPANT IN BOHOL

VOTE BUYING : MOST RAMPANT IN BOHOL

The massive vote buying in the province places Bohol in a bad light as elections here are known to be one of the expensive among the provinces in the country.

"Running for a public post in an election here is no longer borne out of qualification, but dependent on the money one is prepared to buy votes."

Vote buying in the province has become so glaring that the "buying spree" even transpires with in a few meters from the gates of polling places.

There are several reports that a defeated candidate and newly elected officials even availed of P60 million loan for his campaign fund.

The vote buying of votes amounted from  P1,000 and P2,000 per voter as what people call as "PUSIL", wherein certain candidates have to buy votes in such huge sums of money.

In addition to this, some supporters of a mayoralty candidate went to the houses not just to pay the voters but to place indelible ink on the "recipients" to make sure they could no longer go to the precincts to vote.

Candidates now term the money to buy votes as "inangayan," since they now justify the purpose of such given cash as "token, and not meant to bribe the electorate."

    *****

INANGAYAN FACTOR
Inangayan, which is the Boholano term for the money given to the voter and is viewed as  a per diem and not vote buying, was a great factor but it was not all the deciding factor.

Without a proper poll survey, or a veteran politicians feel of the situation, a candidate would not know how to distribute the inangayan in order to be beneficial to the candidate.

There is a story of a new politician in 3rd district of Bohol with plenty of money but did not win. I'm sure that he did not have the information that in the 3rd district of Bohol, the response to "Modawat apan dili mobotar" was a huge 52.6%.

The questions of when, where, how, and why of the inangayan factor are determinable in a poll survey.

The biggest deciding factor was money. We asked the following question, "KUNG HATAGAN KA UG KUWARTA ARON MOBOTAR SA KANDIDATO NGA NAGHATAG, UNSA ANG IMONG BUHATON? (If you are given money to vote for the candidate who gave you the money, what will you do?)

For the First District of Bohol : a) Dili modawat- 14.92%
                                          b) Modawat apan dili mobotar- 56.25%
                                          c) Modawat og mobotar- 28.83%

For the Second district of Bohol: a) Dili modawat- 11.82%
                                             b) Modawat dili mobotar- 30.12%
                                             c) Modawat og mobotar- 45.18%

For the Third District of Bohol: a) Dili modawat- 16.7%
                                         b) Modawat dili mobotar- 56.6%

I was reminisce the past election especially 2001 known as the Battle royal Aumentado vs relampagos sa pagka governor nga ang kwarta nagastos adto P15 million for EBA and P25 million for Relampagos...i could not imagined how brutal kaayo ning electiona...

Shockingly, the Boholano electorate seems to like and approve this undemocratic and deceptive dispensation. they do not want genuine elections. so ,election no more...Bohol really go for fake elections? Probably not. the people may like genuine elections. The biggest root of these "Fake" votes is vote -buying known as "INANGAYAN". This is the most scandalous phenomenon accepted by the people and tolerated by COMELEC, despite their knowledge that this is a criminal act, defined as "election offense" under Section 261 of the Omnibus Election Code, and punishable by imprisonment of 1-6 years, without probation. This illegal act, done in all our elections , is public knowledge, even among Comelec official inutil kaayo. But why is it that until now nothing is done about it. no one soul has been prosecuted by the comelec for vote buying... Mao lindy i'm so sad sa panghitabo hangtud karon way nahimo way na preso way gamit ang maong balaod...

This is not an illegal act kay walay napreso. Matud nila, gihatagan man daw sila, nganong dili man dawaton.

On ...the only solution to vote buying is to improve the earning capacity of the boholano...so that they could resist the temptation of accepting the inangayan...or have enough money in their pockets that it would take a fairly large amount to sell their votes...

tabangan nato ang pagpangita ug paagi nga makakwarta ug makakita ug panginabuhian ang tanang bol-anon...

Correction please. The right term is "Boycott Buying".

Kung dako ang disparity between total registered voters Vs. actual number of people who voted, posible nga nahitabo ni.

So ikaw arki, pakigbugno sa sunod election unya ayaw kagasto anang giingon nga inangayan, aron ikaw maoy mohatag ug sample nga wala nay vote buying.

Unsaon man as the saying goes: "IFYOU WANT TO STAY IN POWER, LET THE POOR REMAIN TO BE POOR." Gihimo jud nga pobre ang atong nasud ug mga katawhan pra magsige ta ug look up to him. Mala, unsa man ta sa una before Marcos time? NO. 2 richest country in Asia, karon?   ;D ;D ;D ;D karon, NO. 2 paman ta gihapon pro poorest country na.....second to the last! :( :( :( . This is the reason nga di jud ta kabangon kay mau naman pud ni ang gipanghimo sa atong mga leaders sa pang goberno. ??? projects? ??? unahon jud ang ilang bulsa nga masudlan! ;D ;D ;D

Arki. another source had informed me that Aumentado also paid Dan Lim to campaign in the second district to the tune of 50 million and in the third district another 50 million...and also that you helped in the distribution...of Aumentado's inangayan...

Sa pangidaron ni EBA, I think maglulinghayao nalang pud siya sa iya 50 million than to give this to Dan Lim, di ba? Think about it! ;D ;D ;D

For the Third District of Bohol: a) Dili modawat- 16.7%
                                         b) Modawat dili mobotar- 56.6%
                                         c) Modawat og mobotar- 29.1%
