The United Nationalist Alliance (UNA) was unfazed by the initial strong showing of Davao Mayor Rodrigo Duterte, saying it will wait for the result of elections in areas where Vice President Jejomar Binay is strong.
UNA campaign spokesman Rico Quicho said they will have a better picture of the poll outcome on Tuesday.
“We’re still waiting for results…and based on our own calculations, once that gets in then we will be have a better position but as of now it is still early, we have to wait for results coming from our bailiwicks,†Quicho said.
“Tomorrow we will know, at least we will have a better picture of what will happen or what will be the results and until then, with guided optimism, we know that our volunteers work round the clock, they went house to house to urge each and every one to vote for vice President Jejomar Binay. We honor them, we thank them. And tomorrow we will have a better and clearer picture of the results,†he added.
Quicho said that it is difficult to play with numbers.
“It is as it is. So just like you, we wait with bated breath the coming of the results. But we feel that at this point, it is still too early for us to say so let us wait until tomorrow,†he said.
But UNA communications director Joey Salgado expressed confidence that Binay will win despite the reported wide lead of Duterte.
