Tirol as “fake” vice-guv bet?

PDP-Laban trashed provincial board member Godofreda Tirol for being a “fake” vice-gubernatorial candidate of the Genuine Opposition even as the elections are eight days away.

PDP-Laban provincial chair lawyer Artemio Cabatos and Engr. Petronilo Sarigumba, who are gunning for board member of 3rd district and architect Bobby Cericos, who is contesting Gov. Erico Aumentado’s bid for reelection, hosted the party’s radio program.

The decision to dump Tirol was reached after her campaign posters carry the name of Gov. Erico Aumentado, by which ultimately abandoned Cericos as her bet for governor.

Earlier, news report said that Godofreda Tirol, wife of Victor Tirol, is riding two horses apparently to ensure her victory against re-electionist Vice-Gov. Julius Caesar Herrera, runningmate of Aumentado.

Reports bared that Tirol is also on the posters of other gubernatorial bets, which she confirmed in her paid radio program she personally hosted last week.

Tirol’s campaign materials bearing the name of Aumentado will surely have a backlash. It said that her supporters will get angry of this kind of gimmickry thereby abandoning her candidacy in last hour will not be far-fetched, PDP-Laban stalwarts led by Cabatos said.

Tirol explained in her paid radio program over DyRD that it was not her fault that some gubernatorial hopefuls are bringing her as their vice-gubernatorial bet.

But PDP-Laban Bohol, a principled political movement, appeared to be not convinced with Tirol’s line of reasoning.

In a bid to clear the name of the Lakas-CMD party, Aumentado denied having any hand on Tirol’s posters bearing his name. In his campaign sorties with Herrera, the governor told his supporters not to believe in Tirol’s attempt because it is untrue. He stressed, however, that his only running-mate is none other than Herrera.

The governor described Tirol’s move to a bat or a proverbial “wolf on sheep’s skin.” He said that when a bat mixed with birds, it is a bird, when with in animals, it also disguises as animal, literally or figuratively.

The governor bared that that Tirol agreed not to run for vice-governor during a conference at the Governor’s mansion prior to the start of the local campaign. The conference was attended by congressmen Edgar Chatto, Roberto Cajes and Eladio Jala, Herrera, former governor David Tirol and his wife Amalia, who is seeking reelection as board member representing second district, he added.

Godofreda Tirol agreed to run for councilor in Candijay for she was groomed to run for president of Philippine Councilor’s League Bohol chapter. But Tirol broke the agreement, the governor said.
