Rebellion at Philippine Councilors League-Bohol?
« on: November 14, 2007, 04:39:38 PM »
By the Bohol Sunday Post

With the prized catch as lucrative as the presidency of the Sangguniang Kabataan, the battle royale for the coveted position has threatened to spill into the ranks of the Philippine Councilors League. If elected, the SK federation president sits as ex officio member of the Sangguniang Panlalawigan. It's equivalent is that of an elected board member to be afforded all the perks and privileges of an SP member.

This developed as a ranking city kagawad issued a veiled threat that he will initiate a mutiny within the PCL if the Imboy couple made good their plan to field their own daughter in the SK provincial federation elections.

The bounty of the mutiny is the PCL presidency headed by Brigido "Boy" Imboy.
Trying to cushion the impact of a collateral damage brought to bear on the PCL rank and file, the flamboyant Loay Mayor May Lim-Imboy appeared unfazed by any threat to her husband's hold of the PCL. She was acting as if she was her husband's spokesperson even in PCL matters.

Although she did not made a categorical stand given her daughter's SK plan, the lady mayor only managed to drop broad hints that fielding a kin in the SK polls is one of the options.

The husband Imboy earned a lopsided victory when he ran for the PCL presidency. The lady mayor played a key role in his PCL victory. Imboy who is Loay town councilor clobbered two opponents to win the race handily.

The coming SK elections will have the trappings of a battle royale if the Imboy scion, Rochelle Brigette, decides to make a go for the SK totem pole. If plans do not go haywire, she will be pitted against Jane Censoria Cajes, daughter of Cong. Roberto Cajes and Trinidad Mayor Judith del Rosario Cajes.

Pound for pound, money for money, a Cajes-Imboy duel is a definite blockbuster with neither camps cannot make any claim that anybody has the upper hand. Daughters of power-driven mothers who are considered as political
matriarchs in their own turf, both girls are sure winners in the run-up to the town SK federation. The next step then is winning the provincial SK federation which is no picnic to either camp.

PCL REVOLT

The threat of a PCL revolt was floated by the city councilor after it was learned that the Imboys are planning to field their own daughter in the SK elections.

The city dad who refused to be identified said that his complaint against the Imboys contesting the SK presidency was also shared by a majority of the PCL members.

According to the grapevine, the Imboys are consolidating their forces in preparations for the lady mayor's plan to run for governor in 2010. She, however did not confirm nor deny this report of a gubernatorial ambition.

There was no word just as yet from the Cajes camp in reaction to an Imboy positioning in the SK presidency.

But reports circulating around the province's political circuit indicated that there was an unholy pact made by the male Imboy and Mayor Cajes when he courted the votes of Trinidad councilors when he ran for PCL president.. In a show of political quid pro quo, Imboy reportedly committed to support the bid of the Cajes daughter in the SK provincial federation electoral exercise. In exchange for the commitment, Imboy got the Trinidad vote, so the story in the grapevine went.

Against the backdrop of this so-called agreement, the Cajes couple were made to believe that their daughter will not be contested by any Imboy scion.

Just like the Imboys, the Cajes clan is also fortifying its defenses in preparations for Mayor Cajes' succession to the position to be vacated by her husband in 20l0.

If the young Cajes wins in the SK polls, she will succeed her elder sister Bobeth Francis Cajes-Auza, the incumbent SK federation head.
