The Bohol Standard“It is now high time for the province to purchase assorted units of heavy equipment to answer the needs for its roads maintenance work,†Engr. Edwin Vallejos said in an interview the other day.
Vallejos who heads the Provincial Engineering Office (PEO) said the existing heavy equipment has become so incapacitated to do the road maintenance operation in the entire province.
Equipments of the provincial government now have a “Zero Book Value†considering that it was purchased 20 years back during the administration of former Gov. Constancio “Nonoy†Torralba in the later part of the 80’s.
The province has a total length of 920 kilometers provincial roads and 144 of which are already concreted, while the 10 kms are asphalted,†Vallejos added.
The purchase request was submitted to the office of the governor for no less than 20 brand new heavy equipment units; itemized as follows; 2 bulldozers, 4 road graders, 4 road rollers, 10 dump trucks, 2 pay loaders, 2 buck hoe, 3 water trucks with pump to be distributed to every congressional district, 1 fuel tanker, 3 service vehicle and 1 prime mover.
