Although Aquino reiterated that his choices would not be limited to LP members, Abad said “the President could be thinking beyond 2016, beyond the term 2016-2022.â€
LP members had expressed belief that Roxas for president with Poe as his running mate would be the team to beat in 2016.
Poe has been leading surveys for vice president and has recently been climbing up in ratings for presidential bets currently ruled by Vice President Jejomar Binay.
Roxas’ wife, broadcast journalist Korina Sanchez, recently told the media the decision on whether her husband would run would be known in June, as the President has said.
ABS-CBN News said the President told reporters covering him in Canada that he was getting everybody’s inputs and not just the established political parties. Aquino is in Canada for a state visit.
The groups include non-government organizations, as well as civil society groups and people’s organizations.
“All the voices of every sector, of every branch of this coalition must be heard and preserved,†Aquino said.
Aquino also dismissed criticisms that the Jan. 25 Mamasapano incident had diminished his endorsement power.
“If we judge it by the attacks that are still the same, if not even more vociferous from my critics, then I think even my critics will say that the endorsement value is still present,†he said.
