Political Party Conflict in Bohol
« on: June 22, 2009, 11:32:38 PM »
The conflicts within the ranks of Lakas-Kampi-CMD in the province could deepen if not resolved soon enough.

Interior and Local Government Secretary Ronaldo Puno admitted Friday that the newly merged Lakas-Kampi-CMD must start holding conventions within two months to choose its presidential and vice presidential candidates as well as its local bets for the May 2010 polls.

Puno, the interim vice chair of the administration party, cited the need to resolve “expeditiously” conflicts arising over who would comprise the coalition’s local bets before they cause “deeper rifts” within the ranks.

Puno told the Chronicle that choosing the party’s standard bearer soon would not only unify local candidates, but would also make the coalition invulnerable to raids by the other political groups.
Sen. Manuel Villar recently recruited some 25 Bohol municipal mayors, mostly belonging to the administration party, into the Nacionalista Party. However, 24 returned to the folds of the Lakas-Kampi-CMD after Gov. Erico Aumentado called out for a status quo to field a unification ticket in next year’s elections.

Puno, who plans to seek the party’s nomination as its candidate for vice president, said the Lakas-Kampi-CMD should be able to elect its officials and hold the party convention as soon as possible.

He said, as of now, the merger has no elected officers but only appointed interim party leaders.
At least three aspirants for the gubernatorial post belong to the administration group – Vice Gov. Julius Caesar Herrera, First District Rep. Edgar Chatto and movie actor/director Cesar Montano.

POLLS TO PUSH THROUGH

Puno also said it had become virtually impossible to amend the Constitution before the 2010 elections and also dismissed claims of the opposition of a no-elections scenario.

The DILG secretary pointed out in a press conference at the Bohol Tropics Resort on Friday that his decision to vigorously seek the nomination of the administration party as its vice presidential bet is proof that the nation’s next elections will push through as scheduled next year.

He said that the House of Representatives’ approval of a measure to convene a Constituent Assembly (Con-ass) is merely being pursued to seek a clarification on how such a method could be legally and properly carried out, given that the Constitution is ambiguous when it comes to implementing this mode of amending the Charter.

â€œMark my words and trust me, there will be elections in 2010 in accordance with the Constitution and our existing laws,” Puno said during a press conference held last Friday.

John 3:16-18 ESV
For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son (Jesus Christ), that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him. Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only Son of God.
