MANILA, June 10 (PNA) -- The Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) will continue to be steadfast and firm in performing its duties as the country’s lead agency against illegal drugs.
PDEA Director General Undersecretary Arturo G. Cacdac, Jr. stressed this during the PDEA 14th Anniversary Celebration on Friday at the PDEA Gym, PDEA National Headquarters in Quezon City.
"PDEA is a reliable leader of the force fighting illegal drugs in the country for the past fourteen years and will continue to do so in the years to come,†he said, referring to the anniversary theme, “PDEA, Maaasahan Noon, Ngayon at Magpakailanmanâ€.
The Director General led the agency’s key officials, personnel and guests during the anniversary program, with Felipe L. Rojas Jr., Chairman, Dangerous Drugs Board (DDB), as the Guest of Honor and Speaker.
Among the highlights of the program was the launching of the PDEA Training Manual- a handbook that serve as effective guide for all PDEA personnel in charting their respective career paths by guiding them in navigating, enriching and sustaining their professional growth throughout their tenure in the agency.
As a matter of tradition, PDEA also honored its men and women who have demonstrated exceptional service over and above the call of duty.
During the program, the newest addition to the growing PDEA family was introduced- “Busterâ€, the official mascot of the agency dressed in a yellow-colored PDEA badge.
The anniversary program also featured an audio-visual presentation, which showcased the PDEA Director General’s Executive Report, summarizing the administrative and operational accomplishment of the Agency under his term from October 2012 to May 2016.
“Upon my assumption as Director General in 2012, I initiated the need for a holistic approach in improving all the vital components of the organization, namely human resource, facilities and equipment, and systems and procedures to strengthen the capability and competency of PDEA. Thus, operational thrusts and priority programs were institutionalized,†Cacdac said.
“It has been over three and a half years, since I took over the reins of PDEA’s leadership. Not everything comes as easy. But due to the steadfast support of all the men and women of PDEA, and stakeholders of the national anti-drug campaign, these achievements have brought the Agency to a higher level of credibility and competency, leading the Filipino people for a drug-free country."
On the culmination of his term, the Director General is hopeful that he has made a modest contribution to improve the quality of life of Filipinos by providing them safe and peaceful communities through effective and efficient drug law enforcement.
“PDEA will be better and bolder in freeing the country from the clutches of illegal drug problem,†the PDEA chief said. (PNA)
