Mitt Romney Attacks China
« on: October 25, 2012, 10:01:35 AM »
by pna

U.S. Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney's tough rhetoric on the Chinese currency issue is not in line with facts and would harm the important China-U.S. ties, a leading U.S. newspaper said Wednesday.

During Monday's presidential debate with U.S. President Barack Obama, Romney doubled down on his pledge to label China a "currency manipulator" on day one of his presidency if elected.

"Like the dog that catches the bus, the puzzle is what he would do on day two," the Wall Street Journal said in an article.

Romney was pushing the anti-China rhetoric over the objections of many advisers, and he seemed sincerely to believe that getting tough will yield concessions from Beijing, said the newspaper.

"Our own view is that Mr. Romney is underestimating Beijing. Even if Chinese leaders agree with his assessment of their economic interests, for domestic political reasons they can't afford to be pushed around by a hectoring U.S. President," added the article.

Torpedoing the bilateral relationship because of an ill-advised campaign promise could have multiple unforeseen consequences, warned the newspaper.

John 3:16-18 ESV
For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son (Jesus Christ), that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him. Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only Son of God.

It is impossible to be 'immune' from dealings with China when the economies of both the United States and the People's Republic of China are so intertwined. Case in point the Philippines , which had a former President who was involved in illegal misuse of funds from a Chinese corporation.

It is naivete for one to believe that the current president will be firm with the Chinese when his administration has endorsed the selling of American bonds to Chinese banks to fund his so called "stimulus package" which did nothing to stimulate anything. The unemployment rate in the country remains at 8.3%, and over 29 million Americans remain unemployed, and 50 some million are still under welfare. We have, effectively, become a welfare state under this current administration.

So, please, before you say anything about Romney, understand that the United States under the Obama administration sold $1.2 Trillion in bonds to the Chinese. 8)

The unemployment rate during the last months of Bush's administration was 5.5%. The unemployment rate , now, under Obama's administration is 8.3 %.

4 years later, and with the passing of his stimulus package, with the ratification of his so called OBAMACARE, the nation remains economically destitute. Our GNP growth is at a dismal 1.5%.

It is an economic catastrophe.

Reality:

With the over-use of government subsidies such as MEDICAID, hospitals are forced to deny patients care. What really amazes me is that many people don't know that Obama wants to take $700 Billion from Medicare to fund his OBAMACARE, which translates in a reduction of federal funding for Medicare, which is a government  health program that covers elderly citizens over the age of 65 or those who are mentally or physically impaired. This will affect millions of elderly citizens who depend solely on medicare for their medication needs and hospital visitations.

What about the millions of Americans who are mentally ill or are born with cognitive disorders-- and are solely dependent on medicare for their health needs? By removing $700 Billion from Medicare funding, this translates in millions of the 'AT RISK' population being out of coverage. Many will be left untreated, God forbid, sent to the streets if medicare-dependent community health centers are forced to close...which will happen.

It is a shame that so many are oblivious to this!

Thanks Lorenzo; you have good assessment of the Obama administration. In my own understanding of how the Chinese manipulate their currency is simple. They have 2 currencies; one is the "rin min bi" which is the official money of China and the other is the "yuan" which is used for international exchange. This rin min bi currency is used inside China and does follow the international value of the dollar or the yuan.

The other issue against Obama is the tragedy in Benghazi. In my opinion Obama's actuation during the crisis violate his mandate under the constitution. His failure to defend a piece of US territory resulted in the death of 4 american personnel including the US ambassador. As CC of the US military he denied a CIA's request for military intervention in the crisis.

I'm a registered Republican. I am a conservative member of the Republican Party.

I do not hold a Philippine citizenship anymore, Priscilla. I relinquished my Filipino citizenship when I took the oath of allegiance to the United States of America, and became a naturalized US citizen. I can no longer vote in Philippine politics.

You are dead on the issues, Priscilla. This current administration is trying to cover up the Benghazi incident.
