MANILA, Philippines – Vice presidential bet Sen. Loren Legarda had called her now running mate Sen. Manny Villar “crooked,†“rotten†and “good for nothing,†according to Senate President and re-electionist senator Juan Ponce Enrile.
In a press conference today at the Pwersa ng Masang Pilipino headquarters in Mandaluyong City, Enrile said Legarda only allied herself with Villar for her own political ambition, particularly the financial support during the national campaign.
He claimed that Legarda was the one who had been pushing him to oust Villar from the Senate presidency that time.
"Manong please do this for the sake of Senate. Si Manny Villar bulok," Enrile quoted Legarda as saying when she accosted him when she hatched the plan of some of her colleagues to unseat Villar.
Earlier, Enrile, who is running under the PMP ticket of former President Joseph Estrada, also accused Villar of applying pressure on the Philippine Stocks Exchange directors to except the shares of stocks of his company, Vista Land and Landscaping Inc., from the lock up provision. - By Dennis Carcamo (Philstar News Service,
