Do you care more about pleasing people or speaking the truth? Explain your answer.

When I was in grade 5, my lola, furious at me for staying up too late, accused me of being a people pleaser.

It's the truth though.

I try to avoid hurting other people at all costs. I do try my best to be tactful. So, if the truth involves hurting the other person's feelings, I'd rather tell a white lie.

Shouldn't it depend on how much the person involved really needs to hear the truth?

If someone needs the truth to make an important decision, it would be bad not to tell it.

But if it's something that is not important, and would hurt the feelings of the person being told, it might be better to remain silent.

It is hard to talk oneself...........I am a kind of a person who mostly voice out what i think - and i really mean it. I am pleasing someone if I know she/he is quite sensitive. But in most cases, I am too direct in every sense.

I am very blunt and direct. To the point jud ko. I was raised to respect every individual as a human being, but I give respect where respect is due as well as show respect on regards to the actions of the individual. For me theres no need to hide the truth, if im wrong--then ill be proved wrong. If, however, im correct about something, providence makes it known. Either through thoughtful dialogue or through evidence.

it's best to go by both choices. People should know and learn by how you feel or think so as not to repeat something that might be offending to them or you to begin with.

Some people I would say most do not like or can not handle the truth.

You must be sincere in pleasing others and sincere in telling what is honest and truthfull.

I would rather be direct and have some one be direct to me as well.

I am not into BS or games.

Nor do I want to hurt people, it has allot to do with manners.

indeed, it has A LOT to do with MANNERS.

when we write comments here, it's best to check also if we have hurt others feelings. sometimes, we tend to say what we think is correct but we forgot to consider that we are indirectly hurting people.

i would care most for telling the truth, even it dares painful acceptance... for it is the truth that would connect to loyalty and love.

when we focus on pleasing people, we cannot please everyone as we have individual differences and perspectives. When we don't speak of the truth just to please others is tantamount to superficiality, insincerity, biases and not being the real YOU, that would lead to misconception of a false facade...

Well said. It is through the inferno and fire that a grain of sand is molded into fine glass. Truth will buckle the ignorance of many, and is the only answer to the supplications of others.

^ I like that. My mom is like that as well, she is brutally honest, and will tell me what i dont want to know, and i appreciate it that she tells me the truth on things. Id rather hear the truth from my own Mother than from anyone else...from the one that carried me in her womb for 9 whole months and delivered me after 24 hours of labor. If she can go through that for me---then it is my job to listen to her (the least i can do); and we all should listen to our parents. Because the parents speak the truth. We may not want to hear it, but it is good for us. IMHO.

text words never worked with me, sorry... i dont even allow my kids to write me that way...i dont want them to get used to it and forget the right spelling after all... i consider it a one big mistake for kids to apply...technology's (sp cellphone) contribution to our kids, they get dumber...
