A witness who recanted the bribery charge against the Ampatuans and several officials and prosecutors of the Department of Justice (DOJ) has accused Justice Secretary Leila de Lima of receiving P5 million monthly from Maguindanao Gov. Esmael “Toto†Mangudadatu.
The accusation was contained in a four-page affidavit filed yesterday by Jerramy Joson before the DOJ.
De Lima denied the allegation.
“Rubbish! That woman has done so much harm to the institution,†she told reporters.
De Lima said she has ordered an investigation on Joson.
Joson filed charges of serious illegal detention against Mangudadatu, his brother and Maguindanao 2nd district Rep. Zajid Mangudadatu, lawyers Nena Santos and Gemma Oquendo and seven others for allegedly detaining her after she accused Justice Undersecretary Francisco “Toti†Baraan and other DOJ prosecutors of receiving millions in bribe money from the Ampatuans.
