The political dynasty of the Lims of Valencia may not be the most powerful animals in the jungle of Bohol politics, but nobody messes up with the clan lest any pretender will only suffer political cuts and bruises if not outright annihilation.
Political predators of the highest form, the Lims are back in harness to contest the prestigious presidency of the Federated Association of Barangay Councils in Bohol.
The matriarch, Conching Lim, won the barangay captain elections of Canmanico, earning her the ticket to run for ABC president of the town. It will be a breeze from there since most of the winning barangay captains belong to her camp. Lim is said to be the power behind the throne of Valencia Mayor Henrietta Gan, Lim's niece. The elder Lim is sarcastically called "the board" of Valencia, an apparent reference to her being a former board member of the town.
The Federated ABC is the undisputed turf of the Lims after it ruled the group of barangay captains since its inception sometime in the mid 90's. It has been the Lims domain until one of its siblings, Renato, died paving the way for an "outsider" to man the ramparts of the ABC affairs. The former board member won the Canmanico elections unopposed and winning the town's ABC setto is a foregone conclusion. There were talks that the Balite-Diputado combine of Valencia may field their own candidate against the former board member but it appeared to be a token gesture considering their diminishing political fortune. The result of last May's elections in Valencia was an unquestionable measure that they were no match to the Lims in Valencia politics.
THE OUTSIDER
That outsider is Dr. Romulo Cepedoza, incumbent ABC federated president who is running for reelection. He took over the reigns of then ABC president Cariso Camacho who died while in office. Camacho's presidency was inherited from Renato Lim who likewise died while serving the ABC presidency.
Let's face it, Cepedoza's greatest fears is a square off with former board member Conching Lim who is casting a moist eye of the ABC presidency.
