Source from abs-cbnnews.com dated March 11, 2009.After enjoying a recent weekend family vacation in Bohol, actor-singer Cesar Montano shared that he and wife Sunshine Cruz are now discussing his political plans in 2010.
Montano admitted that he is still studying the possibility of him running for Bohol governor in next year’s election. But a big consideration for the 46-year old actor is if he can relocate permanently to the south.
“I’m almost considering it. To be the father of the province, you have to be there. I have to think twice and I have to ask and answer so many questions. Questions that I need to answer like kaya ko bang tumira d’on ng matagalan?
“’Yong tipong five days nand’on ako tapos two days lang ako nandito [sa Manila] to check on my kids. Or ita-transfer ko ba mga kids ko at doon sila mag-aaral, tapos d’on kami,†he said.
After his unsuccessful senatorial bid last 2007, Montano said his wife’s opinion on the matter is important to him before he makes any political decision.
“Si Sunshine ‘pag sinabi sa akin na ayaw niya na pumasok ako sa pulitika, then gan’on. Sabi niya she has to think it over first. Tapos magde-decide kaming dalawa. Nag-usap na kami sa ibang bagay, ang sabi ko kanya, ‘Don’t decide early, we don’t have to hurry deciding on it.’ Sabi ko, ‘Pwede tayong mag-decide later on ‘pag last quarter na of this year,’†he said.
Montano also knows that his career might even take a backseat if he runs and wins.
He bared that he already has some supporters who are willing to finance his campaign.
As a filmmaker, he knows that his experience in the industry will definitely come in handy when he becomes governor.
“The island of Bohol is a tourist zone, it’s a tourist island. Film is a very, very powerful medium na pwede gamitin to elevate ang tourism ng isang island… and I think na kaya ko pang gumawa kasi napakarami nating mga historical [background] na pwedeng stories, na pwede mo gawing pelikula,†he said.
Montano, who admits to being a fan of “Slumdog Millionaire,†said he hopes to produce a film of the same quality in his province in the near future.
