The real story was that even before election fever hit Bohol, EBA was already busy coming up with two (2) slates, I repeat two slates...one for Lakas and another for Villar, he played the ultimate balimbing, by dealying the turn-over of the reins of Lakas chairmanship in the province. When he became sure that it would be Chatto who would be anointed to the Governorship and of course chairmanship of Lakas, he made sure that Herrera would not slide down to being the first district candidate, he gave instructions to herrera not to slide down as he, EBA would make him, Herrera the Provincial chairman of NP under Villar. He even instructed Jala that should he not be picked as Lakas congressional bet in the 3rd district (due to Yap)that he would personally escort the later to Villar.
Politics is a dirty game as you would see,...to placate Jala, he was given a position at SEC, paving the way for Yap to go un-opposed, He, EBA was hell bent on running for congress in the 2nd district, under any banner, if villar wins, he could be speaker of the house, but as politics would go, Arroyo had also backed up Villar, in a deal done in the middleeast. Arroyo had all sides covered, she could be the next speaker, dousing the hopes of aumentado.
Aumentado on the other hand always repeated to anybody who was high enough in the hierarchy, that he would go by wherever "Madam" would make him go , madam being PGMA. True enough his gamble paid off as his Cona was reinstated after being revoked, designed by the wily GMA that whoever wins either Gibo by the Lakas machinery or Villar by his money, GMA would be spared from future prosecution...
Lakas, with Gibo being the Secretary of National defense of course had his intelligence network, sensing Aumentado's foxy moves, acceded to cajes demands that his wife be made the lakas congressional bet in the 2nd district, this was done at the eleventh minute to put both Aumentado & Chatto in the blinds. in desperation chatto had to summon the younger Jala to file his candidacy even in pajamas as cajes was nowhere to be found, that final hour of filing. There would still be a substitution anyway, desperate as it may seem, the ploy worked for the provincial Lakas.
and so it goes, desperate situations need desperate moves, EBA executed the perfect pirhouette, raising the hand of herrera under the nose of Gibo's banner... In a surprising twist of events Gibo got wind of GMA's balancing act, and resigned as chairman of lakas to fully concentrate on the campaign, Villar smiles, from pretending to be poor, his was the mighty hand that designed all these hullabaloo, Gibo's move was some kind of a signal to GMA's cohorts, loyal supporters of GMA jumped ship to guess where? Villar, ... Gibo in uneasy seas, has now trudged onwards on the wave of his credentials in the hope that the juggernaut that is Villar the future dictator could be dislodged from the pedestal that he is now building fast... Imagine, Villar putting in together in his ticket the left (Satur), and the right (the Generals), and for good measure the dictator's son (marcos) together in an alliance where all are hungry for power, which they may in the end exploit to the detriment of the country...a disunited upper house could be an advantage to a master manipulator.
Back home, they have fielded under their ticket non-performing rubberstamps of the powers that be...They are trying to make sure, that the country would be theirs, whatever turns out in May...they would end up on top...Let the voice of the Boholano triumph, Let them who understand illumine the rest, let us make our mark...protect your vote and your future
