Bohol Guv will create Council of Elders

Bohol Governor Erico B. Aumentado will soon issue an executive order constituting the Bohol Council of Prime Movers that would spell out genuine collaboration between the government and private sector in achieving sustainable development by initiating a pro-active stance of local officials in their mandate to provide basic services.

In creating the Bohol Council of Prime Movers, the administration of Governor Aumentado aims to further enhance the objectives and goals of the local government units by further emphasizing effective implementation of the provincial government's programs and ordinances.

The initiators for the creation of the council will meet on September 24 for final fine-tuning of the points to be included in the executive order.

The council of prime movers will serve as recommendatory body to the Office of the Governor to assist in formulating programs and plans of action for the advocacies and objectives for the development of Tagbilaran City and the province.

It shall also identify the areas of concerns in the implementation of the various projects and programs of the provincial government and recommend alternative solutions to address these problems.

Governor Aumentado has tapped Hans Schoof, the consultant on Tourism and Trade, to chair the council with BCCI president Norris Oculam as the vice-chairperson and Provincial Board Member Alfonso Damalerio II as the secretary-general.

Also eyed to be the regular members of the council are Provincial Administrator Tomas Abapo Jr., Tagbilaran City Mayor Dan Lim, ABCFI president Holger Horn, Themistocles Inting of the Bureau of Immigration, BAHRR president Obdulio Caturza Jr., Provincial Board Member Ester Corazon Galbreath of the Tourism Council, PNP Ppovincial Director Col. Edgardo Ingking, IBP-Bohol president Attorney Isabelo Sales Jr., Provincial Tourism Council chairman Peter Dejaresco, Provincial Legal Officer Handel Lagunay, LMP president Mayor Exuperio Lloren and DYTR General Manager Carlito Responte of the Bohol Tri-Media Association.

The staff of the Office of the Governor shall act as the secretariat of the council.

The Council of Prime Movers will be tasked to submit thorough and comprehensive list of recommendations to the Office of the Governor, to aid in the augmentation of the services, projects and developmental activities for the welfare of the constituents.

As the need arises, it shall also invite resource persons from different departments of the provincial government or national government agencies and other sectors, religious leaders to shed light on issues and concerns in their respective jurisdictions.

It shall also "designate technical committees to focus on different areas of responsibility to expedite the identification of problems and submit recommendations for further consideration by the entire council".
