Refusing to call it a junket, councilors from Bohol reportedly spent over P2 million in the 7th Philippine Councilors League Visayas Island Congress held on June 4-6 at the Waterfront Hotel in Lahug, Cebu City.
Reports had it that over 300 councilors from the 47 towns of Bohol and Tagbilaran City trooped to Cebu for the event.
Each of the participant paid a registration fee of P8,000 which excludes the transportation expenses and allowance.
The expenses were charged to their annual travelling allowance which is now almost consumed.
Only two members of the City Council of Tagbilaran stayed- -Councilor Edgar Bompat and Sangguniang Kabataan president Ramy Alturas.
Moreover, Vice-Mayor Jose Antonio Veloso was in Dumaguete City then, to attend the Vice Mayors League sportsfest.
