Philippine Daily Inquirer

For its “sin of diversion,” one of the country’s largest importers faces a P3.52-billion smuggling complaint filed by the Bureau of Customs (BOC) in the justice department Thursday.

Customs Commissioner Angelito Alvarez said at a press briefing that Binondo-based Sonic Steel Industries had unlawfully imported and made claims of fictitious re-exportation of cold-rolled steel coils and prime cold-rolled steel coils with dutiable value worth P3.52 billion.

The amount covered the company’s various transactions last year which were declared as warehousing entries.

Alvarez said Sonic Industries ranked 56th among the country’s importers, bringing in a total of 94 million kilograms of imported steel last year.

Named respondents in the BOC complaint were Doris Ong, Sonic Industries executive vice president, and Bienvenido Dulce Jr., vice president for corporate affairs. - pdi

John 3:16-18 ESV
For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son (Jesus Christ), that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him. Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only Son of God.
