Funds for Bohol must be insured that they are included in the proposed 2008 General Appropriations Act, which is hoped to be approved before Congress adjourns on October 12.

Rep. Edgar Chatto of the first district of Bohol is now working extra hard to sustain the momentum of the developments in Bohol. After the general presentation of the national budget, the First District congressman has will focus on sub-committee discussions of various local concerns ranging from small irrigation, roads, additional teachers, dependable police system and improved health services.

Chatto will also push for completion for the proposed Panglao International Airport.

Among Chatto’s local priority include rehabilitation of the communal irrigation systems in Maribojoc, Antequera, Calape and Tubigon. The risky causeway at the back of the St. Joseph Cathedral linking Tagbilaran City to Dauis via Totolan will also be expanded into four lanes in anticipation of the completion of the Panglao island international airport in 2010.

The other causeway from the Mansasa-Bool junction to Dauis will be expanded too and the Panglao central highway concreted on account of the foreseen heavy traffic once the big airport operates.

In tandem with Third District Rep. Adam Jala, Chatto will have the Sikatuna-Loboc road, an alternative tourism route, improved as it directly connects the tarsier sanctuary to the river of floating restaurants.

Chatto has projected the great potential of the Maribojoc-Antequera road as another alternative tourism lane accessing downward to Catagbacan, Loon, site of the proposed ambitious international cruise ship port.

Maribojoc and Antequera hold stakes in the bold conversion of the rich Abatan river into a center nature of Bohol’s community life tour, a variation of Philippine eco-cultural tourism.

Also, Chatto exerted efforts to fund out of next year’s national budget the concreting of the Catigbian-Tubigon road to help uptrend rural economy.
