the dull log

There sits a log by the streams near anislag
i came to it some summer day
and woe did it talk back
such unwholesome talk this log permeated
to think that i did not hear his uttering lips
oh with discretion, respect, and posterity
did i address
however, the log continued to address only malcontent
so i walked on by and left the log
to the loneliness that it once had
and the companionship with a dull frog.
