Papa Titing was the middle child in the family; very pordoy kaayo iyang pamilya sa unang panahon. Ug mu kaon sila mais ra jud ikakaun kai mahal man ang luto. Isda ra pood ang i-kanun, usahay maka kaun pood ug karni, pero dili kalingaw kai mahal man. Luuy intawn.
He was Barely 9 years old when he left Pintuyan. And he was a stow-away in a banka that took him to Cebu. He found work in Cebu as a market vendor. Intawn.
Afterwards he met my Lola (Mama Luz), who was a college student in Teaching. Maistra man to si Mama Luz. Salamat sa dios gi tagaan si Papa Titing ug love of his life.
Mama Luz was also from Leyte (Taga Borgos, Leyte)
Papa Titing, salamat sa grasya sa Ginoo, became a very successful businessman, 'te.
Buy and Sell business. And he was able to send all 7 of his children to college. 3 of his sons finished Engineering (my father was a product of C.I.T Engineering College), 1 son finished Nursing, and 1 finished Medicine (product of Cebu Doctors Medical College), his 2 daughters finished; one in nursing and the other a Provincial Director.
For me, 'te, my Papa Titing is an inspiration. He went through everything, but was able to do so many things and achieved many things through God-given hard, and honest work. Hard and Honest Work.
Conservative Lifestyle. But Successful, nonetheless. If my grandfather, who did not even have a high school educaiton, can do so much and send his kids to college, and provide for them, the things that lay before me is nothing.
I owe it to my Papa Titing. For giving the basis and foundation for my father--who in turn provides for his family (and I his son).
Never forget our grandparents. And most of all never forget our roots.
For me, the Lucino Dynasty stems back to my Papa Titing. Had he not left Pintuyan on a banka when he was only 9 years old. I would not be here today.
The Good Lord truly is Great.
