I have great confidence to our Navy. The are the first line of defence being stationed in our boundaries. Their great dedication, vigilance and calibre is beyond doubt. However, they lack the sophisticated/advanced equiptments, machineries and firepower.

Job well done to our Navy, men and women who risk thier lives to protect our county.

Like you, Mr. Ferniz, I have great respect and adoration for the Philippine Navy.

The Philippine Navy will defend its territory if needed be, even if it needs to adopt 'crude' methods. The most popular event that I remember reading about was back in the late 90s when there were multiple Chinese ships intruding into Philippine-claimed Spratleys and deep into the Palawaan reefs.

The Chinese ships, which were carrying the Chinese flag, were told multiple times by the Philippine Navy Patrol boats to repel out of Philippine sea zone. The ships did not listen or heed, as a response the Philippine boats fired warning shots. Still the Chinese ships would not repel. The Philippine Navy responded brutally.

The Navy 'rammed' the Chinese ships forcing many of the ships to sink, and rescuing as many then arresting them for illegal fishing and illegally entering Philippine nautical territory.

Whenever the Chinese Navy sends in its frigates and destroyers to the Spratleys to show its naval force, the Philippine Navy responds by sending in its Surface Fleet. The Philippine Navy does not fear the Chinese, and will defend the Republic's Sovereign Right if needed.

Now that the Philippine Navy recently acquired an advanced Cyclone-Missile Ship from the United States in 2004, the Philippine Navy's surface fleet has been greatly augmented. Philippine Navy now has the ability to shoot Exorcet missiles at foreign cruisers, destroyers and carriers if they ever dare to go into Philippine territory.

The Philippine Navy plans in acquiring more Cyclone-class ships to augment its growing surface fleet. The Philippine Navy is growing. And getting powerful. That is what is important.

New fast-attack ships the Philippine Navy purchased from the USN (United States Navy).

More new ships. American Ambassador to the Philippines touring the recent purchase.

recently-acquired Cyclone-Attack Missile Ship of the Philippine Navy.
Thanks to the United States!

Philippine's Cyclone Attack Ship.

Because of this, the Republic now has a missile shield. Capable of sending not only surface to air missiles but EXORCET missiles that can sink and damage even the largest of China's frigates and destroyers.

If the Philippine Navy acquires 10 more of this ship to our inventory; not even China would be stupid enough to think about entering Philippine Territory.

This ship ALSO has anti-submarine ability.

As allies of the US, we have nuclear threats from North Korea. The number one rule of war is to destroy/demoralize the enemy including it's nearest allies.

Being one of the key US allies in the region, we need more support from the US strengthening our northern front; i.e. modern sophisticated radars & interceptor missiles like the Patriot, used during the Gulf War to intercept Russian made Scud missile used by the Late Sadam Hussein.

Mr. Ferniz,

The Philippine Navy has been 'shopping' around for the possibility of purchasing a $30 million Dollar American 4th generation Missile Frigate.

The Philippine Navy is currently a brown water navy; meaning that it does not have the current ability to project its power outside its central sphere. This is because the Philippine Navy is currently composed of:

1) Corvettes
2) 3rd generation missile ships
3) Patrol ships
4) Fast attack ships
5) Support Ships
6) Transport Ships

Currently, the Philippine Navy does not have a long-ranged frigate or destroyers. Frigates and Destroyers are offensive-based ships whose firepower are testament to the nation's military strength. At the moment, the Philippines only has 3 large missile frigates, of the Peacock class; which the Navy acquired from the UK in 1997 when Hong Kong was reverted back to the People's Republic of China.

The Philippine Navy has been looking around for a missile frigate to facilitate its fleet. It has looked into British, American and Spanish vessels for purchase. At the moment though, the Philippines has focused its energy in acquiring more American-made material.

The navy is very "pleased" with the performance of our newly acquired Cyclone-Attack Missile Ship. It has the ability of obliterating an enemy vessel from miles away. It can not only shoot down enemy fighters, but has the ability to send anti-submarine heat-seeking depth charges. Currently, the United States even uses Cyclone-class missile ships in its own fleet to protect the hide of a Carrier task force against submarine activity as well as from lurking enemy planes.

The Philippines prefers the Cyclone because it is not only extremely fast, agile, but lethally armed to the teeth. Small but it does the job. The PN would benefit in acquiring 10 or so more of these ships. At the cost of $10 million per ship. As it is a 4th generation ship.

Eventually, when the Philippine Navy gets enough funding, it will be able to purchase larger ships.

I agree with you though Mr. Ferniz. The future depends on our relationship with the United States. With a nuclear umbrella, The United States, there is no nation in this earth that would be stupid enough to touch Philippine Territory.

We should take advantage of that and build up our naval assets and defenses.
