The original version of Dandansoy is Hiligaynon. It is a folksong of the Ilonggos. Another song with similar title ("Kundansoy" . . . inom tuba laloy) is sung mostly in Sugbuanong Binisaya.

hahaha. yes Mr. Koddi. I never heard of the song 'Dandansoy' until my gf sang it to me a while ago.
It is sung as if it is a bedtime song for little kids. I was dazzled by the lyrics...the song is the inspiratory engine that has instilled me in the drive to learn more about the Illongo dialect of BISAYA.

Mr. Koddi, I have a question for you.

Why do the Illongos use the suffix 'soy' alot?
And when they talk they end a phrase with a 'Haw' or 'Ha' hehehe

Is this a Visayan trait to use the suffix 'SOY' or is this just an Illongo trait?

I know that Max Surban, a Cebuano, also wrote a song 'TURAGSOY'.
What does that mean?

he he he

Salamat!!

The Literal Translation of 'Dandansoy':

Dandansoy, I will leave you,
I am going home to Payao.
If ever you feel lonely,
Just look towards Payao.
Dandansoy, if ever you decide to follow,
Don’t bring any water.
If ever you get thirsty,
Make a well along the road.
