MARIBOJOC HUB'S BLURB:

Give tribute to the farmers who produce our daily food by knowing the steps in rice production-- from planting, to shooing birds, to harvesting, drying, pounding and winnowing-- in painless scenarios and demos.

Do the pilapil walk like a pro or like a beauty queen as you bring laundry, rice, fruits and other stuff to the river. Join the folks in giving thanks to San Isidro Labrador, patron saint of farmers, in a basaw dance beat.

Busao, Maribojoc.  A bamboo arc greeted visitors to Maribojoc's heritage based hub "Sandurot sa Kaumahan" (Fellowship in the Farm) in barangay Busao as a carabao pulling a balsa (cart) carrying a village woman with a bokag can be seen on the side.

Reigning Miss Maribojoc joined the welcoming team and National Commission for Culture and the Arts Deputy Executive Director, BOKAG Art Director Lutgardo Labad and Process Bohol head as ushers led them into the hub that was festooned with fiesta buntings and farm products. With Maribojoc Tourism officer Gerry Veloso, a group of youth welcomed the visitors with a dance with music accompaniment by Toril's Bol-anon Village Cultural Trails comparza/rondalla.

A Benediction by Busao parish priest Father Mahinay with the image of San Isidro Labrador, patron of farmers, opened the soft launching of the "Sandurot sa Kaumahan" (Fellowship in the Farm). This was followed with a toast of fresh morning tuba in bamboo "glasses" with Maribojoc Mayor Mer Arocha, Vice Mayor Veloso, NCCA Deputy Director, M. Tellano,  Emmie Roslinda, Gardy Labad, Fr. Camacho, Camino de Bohol's Floretta Sevilla Simpson, Cooper Resabal, Fructuosa Hibaya, and Busao National High School's Era Aldonza.

Guests were then led to the demonstration area where they were shown some Maribojoc ancestral ways of processing rice before it is cooked and served on the table, from the pounding of rice (with three pounders), winnowing, and "alig-ig" (separation of the unpounded rice). Others patiently tried to learn the making of the "puso" (woven container), while some watched how nipa is attached to a bamboo for use as roofing.

The creative products area displayed products such as banana and cassava chips, products from the Escuela Taller, like carved wood and stone, etc.

Guests feasted on Maribojoc lechon, sarsiadong manok, escabeche, fried native chicken, soup with butong and shellfish with rice in puso for lunch.

After lunch, various cultural groups from Maribojoc presented numbers:
Lincod Cultural Collective showed the life of fisherfolks and nipa thatchers along the Abatan River, the Busao National High School showed a series of heritage dances and a trio who sang about "Rosas Pandan." Bol-anon Village Cultural Trails of Toril presented songs about a mother's encouragement and warning on marrying a Boholano, Kagahapon ug Karon (Yesterday and Today), and a traditional Busao Curacha Mayor dance by Ursesio Amon and Teresa Napinas which featured a cloth where people can show their appreciation by throwing or placing money into it while the couple was dancing.

A basaw beat with a tingko (a bamboo instrument), traditionally played with drum and gong as residents dance to thank answered prayers, and to seek favors from San Isidro Labrador, concluded the day's activities.

NOTE: The scheduled pilapil walk and harvest demo, including a walk to a nearby river with bamboo rafts and hanging bridge were cancelled due to beginning showers, and time constraints.

John 3:16-18 ESV
For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son (Jesus Christ), that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him. Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only Son of God.
