Ms. Orchids, powerful kaayo 'ning kantaha, no? The lyrics of this song is so deep; painfully deep.
This song, is the song of Filipino parents.
Mama
Papa
Ina
Ama
Tatay
Nanay
Mommy
Daddy
Whatever we call them, this song is for them. Their yearnings, and their dream in their children.
I cannot help but shed a tear when I hear this song. When I hear this song, I think about the life story of my Papa Titing, Mama Luz--the parents of my father.
I can't help but cry, uy, because all that I can see is how poor they were in their childhood. My late Papa Titing was from a very very poor family in Leyte--ning anhi siya sa Bohol througha pumpboat when he was only 8 years old. Can you imagine? At such an age he left his family to survive--to get out of Pintuyan Island.
Na luuy lang pood ang Ginoo niya, naka kuha siya ug job, sa business. Ning work siya intawn sa merkado, selling goods as a boy-boy. Na luuy pood ang Ginoo naka successful pood ahong Papa Titing in what he did. Gi hatagan siya ug grasya sa Ginoo--ning minyoo siya sa ahong Mama Luz. And naka anak sila ug 7 children. My father was their eldest born.
My father would tell me his family story--luuy kaayo sila. This song--is the only emotional way that I can digest everything in. Even though I was never alive to see my Papa Titing (he died in 1979, May the Lord God bless his soul, grant my Papa Titing eternal rest and peace, O Lord), yet I can see him, Ms. Orchids.
This song breaks my heart--it cuts it and allows me to cry--and to visualize my Papa Titing. In my mind, I can see him dancing, laughing, I can see him carrying my Dad, I can see him dancing with my Mama Luz. I can hear his laughter, even though I never met him.
Maka hilak pood ko ani, pero this song is so powerful. Beautiful kaayo ang lyrics.
Ms. Orchids, sorry lang ko kaayo kai wa ka naka meet sa imong papa.
