Team CamSur, in coordination with LTO Naga and Ragay District Enforcers, has been actively managing the traffic flow along Maharlika Highway in Lupi, Camarines Sur. This effort is in response to the significant disruptions caused by soil erosion in the areas of Cabutagan and Bulawan.
Traffic is moving alternately per lane since the road cannot accommodate two-way traffic. Each lane is allotted 30 minutes to pass. The other lane starts moving only after the last vehicle in the previous lane clears the way. This has greatly helped to keep the vehicles moving.
However, traffic volume is expected to increase further as more travelers are anticipated to pass through the area, heading home or taking vacations for the holiday season.
Several critical areas along the highway are experiencing severe traffic congestion, primarily due to counterflowing vehicles. To address this issue, traffic enforcers have been deployed to these problem zones to prevent counterflow and ensure the smoother movement of vehicles, and a Temporary Operators Permit was issued to the apprehended violators.
In addition to traffic management, the team also assisted DPWH trucks and equipment being mobilized for the repair of the eroded sections of the road. The repair activities are crucial to restoring normal traffic conditions in the area.
The weather in the area remains challenging, with intermittent rain adding to the complexity of traffic management and repair operations.
