GUNRUNNING SYNDICATE BUSTED, COP ARRESTED

Police operatives busted what is believed to be an organized gunrunning syndicate operating in Metro Manila led by an active duty police sergeant.

PNP Chief Police General Debold M Sinas citing reports from the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group announced the arrest of PSSG REYNOLFO URSULUM, 50, a resident of Chavez St., Central Bicutan, Taguig City, and a companion identified as  CARVYN PARCON, 21, of the same address.

Ursulum is assigned with the Regional Personnel Holding and Accounting Unit of Police Regional Office 7 in Central Visayas but is believed to be engaged in gunrunning activities.

The Chief PNP reiterated the command policy of “swift and decisive action against errant members of the PNP engaged in irregularities and illegal activities.”

An entrapment operation was launched by CIDG to buy four assault rifles for P500,000.00 from the suspect at 10:00PM on Saturday in front of a popular restaurant along Doña Soledad Ave., Parañaque City.

Agents arrested the suspects while in the act of the exchange.

Seized from the suspects were four (4) Bushmaster M4A1 carbines, a PNP-issued Taurus 9mm pistol, magazine assemblies with live ammunition, ID and ATM  cards, and an SUV with plate number JUN 660.

Upon initial investigation, Ursulum told probers the guns came from Alabang, Muntinlupa City.
