MORE THAN 14M WORTH OF ILLEGAL DRUGS DESTROYED IN PRO 11

Camp Quintin Merecido, Buhangin Davao City- On November 26, 2020; at around 9:00 AM, Deputy Regional Director for Operations, PCOL EDGAR ALAN O OKUBO together with Dir II Mario D Ramos, Assistant Regional Director, PDEA 11 spearheaded and facilitated the Destruction of Seized Illegal Drugs and Non-Drug Paraphernalia and Evidence in observance of the Drug Abuse and Prevention Control Week 2020 with the theme: "Better Knowledge for Better Care".

A total of 14, 117,810.00  street value of illegal drugs was destroyed in PRO 11 Grandstand, Camp Sgt Quintin M. Merecido, Buhangin, Davao City, which are  inventoried as follows: 716.3511 grams of Shabu with estimated street value of P10,745,266.00; 27,393.1224 grams of Marijuana valued at P3,287,174.69; 51 pcs of marijuana plants, 16.1075 grams of cocaine with street value of P85,369.75; and 4.9639 grams of Ephedrine. These drugs was from the initial 1,023 cases filed by PNP and cleared by courts for destruction.

The activity was a concerted effort between PNP PRO 11 and PDEA11 being witnessed by Atty. Noralyn Bañez; Communal Punong Barangay Mark Q. Galvez; RTC Branch 13 Presiding Judge, Hon. Rowena Apao-Adlawan; Representative, Dept. of Justice, Prosecutor Imee Mabale; Chief, Public Attorney’s Office, Atty. Suseyline M Bakino-Abtarul; Founding Chairman, CYMPIL-PARAK Engr. Dioscoro O Consuegra; and Media representative from PTV 4, Mr. Jay Lagang.

Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte was the invited Guest of Honor and Speaker, whose message was read by PCOL KIRBY JOHN KRAFT, CD, DCPO. She  encourages the cooperation and commitment of everyone to  create a truly drug free Philippines, to quote: “ The fight against drugs is one we each cannot fight on our own. But when we are committed to work together, we can bring it down to its knees and create a truly drug free Philippines.” She also extended her congratulations to all agencies involved in anti-drugs effort and expressed that the City of Davao is committed to combat drugs and will remain a staunch ally in responsible anti-drug abuse efforts.

Likewise, PRO 11 Regional Director, PBGEN Filmore B Escobal in his message recognized the importance of working together, he said: “There is strength in working together, rather than working apart. Thus, the war on drugs should not only be a war by the President or the PNP or the PDEA. But it should be a multi-sectoral battle that hinges on multi-sectoral cooperation – from the barangay, the health sector, the church, our educational institutions, civil society, and even mass media. We should eliminate this menace by all means necessary but with proper regard to and complete respect for the individual rights of all concern.”
