TO FIND, ARREST KILLERS OF DR. DREYFUSS PERLAS

More than one year has passed since Dr. Dreyfuss Perlas of the Doctors to the Barrios program died on March 1, 2017. He was shot dead after he had just come from a medical mission in Kapatagan, Lanao del Norte.

Dr. Perlas was the municipal health officer of Sapad, Lanao del Norte.

Considering that Mindanao is under martial law, I now ask both DND Secretary Delfin Lorenzana and PNP Chief Ronald dela Rosa to bring to justice whoever masterminded Dr. Perlas’ murder. So far, only the alleged hitman is accounted for and killed in an encounter.

Find the mastermind or masterminds and arrest them. If they resist arrest, then the military and police have their rules of engagement protocols to follow.
 
Murder charges were filed on March 21 at the Lanao del Norte provincial prosecutor’s office.
 
To honor the memory of Dr. Dreyfuss Perlas, I ask the bicameral conference committee that will work on the proposed Medical Scholarship and Return Service Program Act (https://goo.gl/wZ6wWR ) to name the bill after the heroic doctor.
 
House Bill 6571 was approved on third and final reading last November and was promptly transmitted to the Senate that same month.

It is but proper that our grateful nation honor him in words, deeds, and in law. Dr. Perlas’ killers must be brought to justice. (END)
