The creation of the barangay, the poblacion and the municipal. The Hispanization of the archipelago vis-a-vis socio-culturally.

The Siege of Baler: A documentary

Philippine-Spanish Battle
-----

http://youtube.com/watch?v=5vXA3If3N90

Despite Spain's loss, the Revolutionary Government of President Emilio Aguinaldo honored them as worthy enemies.

It was Spain's last stand in the Philippines. A defeat for Spain, and a Victory for the 1st Philippine Republic against the old Colonizer.

To this day, June 30 is marked as Philippine-Spanish Day. To commemorate the relationship our country has with Mother Spain, and our evolutionary separation from Spain as a separate and innate identity.

This documentary shows two Philippine senators visiting the hometown of the Spanish survivors in the Siege of Baler. A show of Philippine-Spanish friendship. Simply beautiful.....~~~

+++++++++++

If you watch this video, in the last minutes of the video--when Senator Edgardo Angara visits Madrid, you can actually see a clip of Spain's monument to Sr. Dr. Jose P. Rizal right in front of the Royal Spanish Cortes (Legislative Government Building). The Rizal monument is like the one in the Philippines--an obelisk. The Mother, afterall, loves its child.
