Descendants of Pedro and Nicasia Salgados will cap today its two-day grand reunion that seeks to reunite clan members from different parts of the country.

A get-together and fellowship was set yesterday at Saya's Restaurant. Activities ran from one o'clock in the afternoon to ten in the evening which included an exciting family tree workshop to acquaint clan members on their ancestral roots, as well as with each other.

The roots of the clan can be traced from Catagbacan in Loon town.

A beach party is scheduled today at Dumaluan Beach Resort which will also feature the election of clan officers for the year 2008 to 2010. An optional Bohol eco-tour is also scheduled tomorrow for clan members coming from outside Bohol.

"This is the second formal reunion of Salgados clan since 2005," Siding Lopena, husband retired judge Gerry Lopena said. The couple, Gerry and Siding is the current chair couple of the steering committee.

In 2005, the Salgados clan reunion was held on the 7th to the 9th of May in similar venues as this year. Like in the last reunion, this year's gathering is made possible through pledges of the clan members, as the reunion activities do not require registration.

The Salgados clan of Pedoy and Ining have approximately 300 members. The couple had 13 children, namely, Apolinaria, Gliceria, Maura, Patricia, Rufina, Cecilio, Crispino, Diosdado, Magdaleno, Melanio, Julia, Mamerta and Teodorico.

Most of the clan members are in Bohol while others are in several areas in the country, more particularly in Manila, Leyte, Bacolod and Davao. - The Bohol Chronicle
