Bohol's hosting of the 21st National Council Convention of the Girl Scouts of the Philippines (GSP) on May 25-27 at Bohol Tropics Resort, Tagbilaran City catered to the election of GSP-Bohol council president Maria Pureza Veloso-Chatto to the prestigious central board of the GSP National Council.

Chatto will now serve as immediate past president and first vice president.

Bohol Girl Scouts considered this a great achievement of the triennium, considering that Chatto was the only council president from the Visayas region to be elected to the national board that is dominated by personalities from the National Capital Region and Luzon Areas.

In scouting boundaries, Visayas Region comprise of the geographical Regions VI, VII and VIII.

The central board is the highest policy-making and governing body of the GSP.
Chatto, who was unanimously nominated and elected, won the confidence of the convention delegates with her gracious, charming ways and persuasive, eloquent speeches during the three-day national GSP gatherings.

She has been Bohol's council president for the maximum terms of two trienniums, from July 2003 until July 2009.
She is the wife of First District Representative Edgar Chatto.

On the other hand, Ubay municipal councilor, Lawyer Roselima Abapo- -wife of Provincial Administrator Tomas Abapo Jr., was earlier elected council president for the Triennium 2009-2011 during the Convention and Election held last January 24 at the La Roca Hotel, Tagbilaran City.

She will lead the 37 council board members, which shall act as the governing body of the council and the council executive Committee- -the implementing body of the provincial council.

Other newly-elected officers are Felicidad Tabel as second vice president, Anne Mariquit Oppus as third vice president, Esperanza Brunidor as secretary, Cecilia Autentico as assistant secretary, Cerina Bolos as teasurer, Amalia Tirol assistant treasurer, Greta Mende as auditor, Norma Varquez as commissioner on administration, Prisciliana Montañez as commissioner on training, and Emma Castillo as commissioner on program.

Romans 10:9-10
"If you declare with your mouth, Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you profess your faith and are saved."
