This writer was out of circulation for the past four months simply because, she was enjoying her extended Christmas vacation in Dipolog City, Zanorte with the families of her eldest and youngest girls.
Anyway, the breathtaking experience of the group was the most exciting ever, when we had a night cruise for the first time at Loboc River. The idea was hatched during the joint birthday bash of Ma’am Venie Cabalog and Fred Malaran who shared the same birthdates at JJ’s Dimsum on November 14, 2008. It was pushed through when December-born member, Dading Mar, whose family planned a special birthday for her, invited the group to join her family and other guests to a dinner on board the floating restaurant and a night cruise on December 01, 2008 her red-letter day. It was a night to remember for the golden seniors.
Club adviser Vic Torralba and Lita Dumalag, who are both January-born invited the group back to JJ’s Dimsum. The gathering was graced by US-based member Yolie Bustrillos, who came home for a vacation. On the other hand, Letty Lumactud, Bening Karaan, Leonor de la Torre, Citas Ingles, Lurline Naparan, Dr. Preciosa Torralba, and Elsa Lingo, February and March celebrators jointly held theirs at JJ’s Seafoods Village.
We met again on May 16, 2009 at JJ’s Seafoods Village to partake of the graces and the blessings that May-born Lita Palileo, Doris Tadena, and Nene Ocarol prepared for their colleagues. US-based Albina Karaan and Nanie Estrera were the invited guests.
Vic Torralba, in his words to bring home, advised his peers that as senior citizens, there’s a need for us to get out of our shells once in a while, and allow some time to get lost, meet, and enjoy listening to each other’s story. Meanwhile, Ma’am Leonor de la Torre, shared to the group the travelogue of her 3-months stay in Australia with her son Jake and his family. Time and money are immaterial because the happiness we feel whenever we meet is priceless.
