Six of the Bohol Dolphins Swimming Club will be competing in the 2009 National Long Course Swimming Championships on July 23 to 26 at the Philippine Center of Excellence for Aquatic Sports Complex in Los Baños, Laguna.
They are Daphne Elizabeth L. Aseniero, (14) of
Bohol Wisdom School, Ian Philip Docabo (10), Emma Alexandrite Duroy (11), Emma Sapphire Duroy (9), and Caedmon Rodriguez (10), all of Victoriano D. Tirol Advanced Learning Center and Francis Xavier Tibus III (10) of Grace Christian School.
They will compete with 902 others for the championship. The winners of which, will have the honor to represent the country in three separate international competitions, namely: 3rd Asean Indoor Games in Vietnam, this October 2009, 25th Sea Games in Laos, Cambodia this December 2009 and 1st Olympic Youth Games in Singapore comes August 2010.
In the past months, PASA (Philippines Amateur Swimming Association) has been conducting swim meets (G-League Series) in the local and regional levels.
Times achieved by the swimmers during the scheduled G-League Series and PASA, or FINA (Federation International de Nationale Amateure) in the same period were used as basis in determining the qualifiers for this national championship.
In these competitions, the swimmers were placed in graduated time order, slowest to fastest to increase the level of competitiveness, as well as to improve every swimmers chances of achieving the qualifying criteria.
The Boholano swimmers under the Bohol Dolphins achieved qualification after competing in two separate PASA swim meets held in Cebu City Sports Complex, Cebu City last April 19, 2009 and Gov. Lorenzo Teves Aqua Center in Dumaguete City last May 16.
As per PASA scheduled series of competitions, there will be a forthcoming event this coming 12th of September 2009, and to be held here in our very own City of Tagbilaran.
