Woman falls to death from building
« on: October 23, 2008, 06:43:27 PM »
MANILA, Philippines -- (UPDATE) An employee of the Philippine Long Distance Telephone Company (PLDT) died when she reportedly jumped from the 15th floor of an office building in Makati City Thursday noon for still unknown reasons, a police official said.

Chief Inspector Dennis Macalintal, chief of the Makati City police Station Investigation Division (SID), in a phone interview, identified the victim as Dalisay Gatab, 39.

Quoting two eyewitnesses, both PLDT workers, Macalintal said Gatab reportedly jumped to her death from the Ramon Cojuangco Building on Makati Avenue at 12:15 p.m.

Louelle Christine Cruz reportedly saw Gatab jump from the 15th floor women’s comfort room, while Charito Nodalo saw Gatab sending and receiving text message on a cell phone in the comfort room before she jumped.

Macalintal said their initial investigation showed Gatab's office was not at the Cojuangco Building but at another PLDT department in a nearby building.

Based on the two witnesses' accounts, Macalintal said police were likely to rule out foul play.

However, he said investigators who recovered the cell phone of Gatab found all stored text messages had been deleted.(inquirer.net)
