Morong, Bataan, Philippines - A 20-year old girl died recently after big waves engulfed her towards the turbulent South China Sea at the height of storm “Cosme†while she was conversing with four companions at a vacant beach lot in Barangay Poblacion, Morong town.
Bataan police director Senior Supt. Manuel Gaerlan, said Pauleen Grace Trabucon of Gabon, Abucay, Bataan was declared dead on arrival at the Morong Health Unit.
Reports showed that the victim was in an outing with members of the family of her elder sister’s boyfriend who were billeted with four others at a beach lot near the J & E Beach Resort when big waves swept them at about 5:30 p.m. Sunday.
Her companions were able to escape but Abucon was sucked by the big waves. Her body was recovered three hours later at the Gold Coast Beach Resort, also in the same barangay.
Meanwhile, residents mostly fishermen at the seaside village of Pag-asa in Bagac, Bataan evacuated to higher grounds when giant waves hit the barangay Saturday afternoon due to high tide heigtened by “Cosmeâ€.
Bagac and Morong are known for their beautiful sandy beaches adjacent to the South China Sea that seems to sleep like a baby during normal weather conditions but suddenly becomes dangerous when weather changes occur. - Philippine News Agency
