One of the country’s most wanted fugitives was flown back to Manila on Saturday, four days after he was arrested in Bangkok, Thailand, for violation of immigration laws in that country.
Escorted by Philippine authorities, Jose Ma. Panlilio arrived at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport in Pasay City around 6 a.m. aboard a Cebu Pacific flight from Bangkok, according to Chief Supt. Leonardo Espina, Philippine National Police spokesman.
Agents of the Philippine Center for Transnational Crime led by Chief Insp. Edgardo Hernandez immediately brought Panlilio to the Philippine National Police Custodial Center at Camp Crame.
“He will be temporarily detained in Camp Crame pending proper disposition on the return of his warrant of arrest with the issuing court,†Espina said.
Panlilio, son of the late socialite jeweler Fe Panlilio, is the primary suspect in the murder of half-brothers Ariel Real and Albert Gutierrez on July 15, 2003.
The victims’ mother, lawyer Carmencita de Castro, and the PNP had put up a P5-million reward for his arrest. - PDI
