ZAMBOANGA CITY -- Government security forces arrested an Abu Sayyaf jail escapee and two carnappers in separate law enforcement operations in Basilan province, a top military official said Saturday.

Arrested were Abu Sayyaf Group (ASG) member Boy Indama and suspected carnappers Salam Aslatan and Nuruddin Duray.
Lt. Gen. Carlito Galvez Jr., Western Mindanao Command (Westmincom) chief, said Indama was arrested by joint military and police forces at around 12:45 p.m. Thursday in Lamitan City.

Galvez said Indama has a standing warrant of arrest for kidnapping and serious illegal detention. He belongs to the group of Abu Sayyaf leader Furuji Indama.

He is among those who escaped from the Basilan provincial Jail on December 13, 2009.

Galvez said Aslatan and Duray were arrested at a checkpoint by the troops from the Army’s 4th Special Forces Battalion at around 7 a.m. Thursday in Barangay Cabunbata, Isabela City, Basilan.

Seized from their possession were two motorcycles owned by Mursid Halikin, a resident of Tipo-Tipo town, Basilan.
Galvez said that Aslatan and Duray “are sought after by law enforcers for carnapping.”

He said they were turned over to the police for proper disposition.
He said they will continue to support the other law enforcement agency in the implementation of the law and to arrest criminals. (PNA)
