The Price of Liberty is Vigilance...
« on: December 05, 2007, 02:49:55 AM »

Honorable Members of the Senate,

As we witnessed in dismay the live broadcast of the stand off in Makati-
propagated in all continents, we feel helpless and denounce all what we
have seen and heard.

It was an errie atmosphere where our democratic values and civil
liberties were assaulted for the nth time reminiscent of the Marcos era
lest more brutal if only to convey a message that this govt is in
control of the 85 million Filipinos.

At the end of the day after the smoke is gun - it us the OFWs onced
again and our families who will bear the brunt of these upheavals
rocking this governtment.

The silenced of the global OFWs, as a sector, should not be taken as
our weaknessess, we practice civility in seeking redress of our
long time grievances but don't be mistaken- the tipping point is a spit away.

Suppressing the rights of the people at the disguise of procedural
laws or under the cover of protecting our national security, unfelt economic
gains or maintaing peace and order is a cheap shot of showing that this govt is
in control of the feelings and minds of the citizenry nor has the moral
grounds to tell us what is good and right for reasonable and
thinking Filipinos- without the aid of consulation or due process.

The leadership and mandate we have given you as your constituents,
even while we are equally suffering and enduring all these hardships
and separation from our families while in foreign lands, is a reminder that
the rule of the governed shall prevail because we are 99% part of the governance.

We will continue our sacred duty of fullfilling our obligations to keep the
economy afloat but please do not forget your co-Filipinos about to be
beheaded or to be lashed or whip or those that were victims of the abuses
of employers or our own govt representatives, or the excessess of
recruitment agencies and the imperfect laws you have crafted
for our socio, economic and political empowerment needing appropriate amendments -

Time is ticking especially in volatile areas of the Middle East, we have done
our share for the last 30 years and we are not remiss of our duties as your citizens.

We will maintain our vigil and respect for the rule of law even while we
relentlessly pursue the OFW agenda, with your help, but this time of national
crisis, we plead that we should not be sidetrack or considered as strangers
in our land-we are all just email aways.

We are equally thankful and appreciative that we still have leaders
like you prevailing over sensitive issues affecting the lot of our
countrymen- count us in - kaisa ninyo kami sa

God Bless this country and our people and our "no non-sense leaders" -may
your tribe increase.
