hahaha!
Even tho I am here in the United States--deep inside of me--my natural homeland, my natural habitat are those basaks in the picture I posted. My grandfather, and his father, and his great great great grandfathers before him all worked in the basaks of Valencia, in Anda, in Tagbilaran.
In my father's side, my entire family owned land and rice land and worked their fields. For generations.
That is why sometimes I feel like i am empty inside--i do not feel complete--deep inside of me.
I long to work in the field or at least want to go back and step on those lapok lapok--to touch the rice field with my own hands. To sweat under the sun and work. It is my and our natural habitat.
Beauty of simplicity. The beauty of the Filipino.
