TESDA, NCIP to provide skills training to indigenous people

MANILA, Feb. 28 (PNA) -- The Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) and the National Commission on Indigenous People (NCIP) have forged a partnership to empower the indigenous people (IP) through technical education and skills development.

TESDA Director General Guiling Mamondiong said this training program is geared towards helping the IP become competitive and productive individuals, especially in their respective ancestral domain.

Mamondiong and NCIP Chairperson Leonor Oralde-Quintayo signed on Tuesday the memorandum of agreement that will help the IP for self or wage employment to uplift their economic status.

TESDA said the project aims to provide National Certificate (NC) and Certificate of Competency (COC) to successful IP graduates after they have completed their skills training.

Based on the agreement, TESDA will also facilitate the job referrals.

Mamondiong has ordered all provincial and regional directors to coordinate with the IP in their respective areas to facilitate the conduct of competency assessment in the identified facility to qualified beneficiaries.

The NCIP thanked Mamondiong for giving priority to IP so that they will develop their ancestral domain into a highly productive community.

Aside from Mamondiong and Oralde-Quintayo, other officials who attended the MOA signing were TESDA Deputy Director General for Partnership and Linkages Rebecca Calzado and other officials of both agencies. (PNA)

John 3:16-18 ESV
For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son (Jesus Christ), that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him. Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only Son of God.
